I did the same thing, cut out a quilt for a baby girl and found out it's going to be a boy. Bummer!. I have used the same paw print in my baby boy quilt. Love your quilt!!

You could add a little lace between the center and the borders, but I like it just they way it is.

Add white lace to the edge.

What about making a pretty bow out of 1" red grosgrain and tacking it really well at the upper left inner border of the black fabric? Good grosgrain doesn't usually bleed when it gets wet but you might want to wash it first and of course finish the ends so it wouldn't ravel. The quilt's as cute as a bug. (Or should I say "dog.")
