So I got my machine back today, and all that trouble was apparently I ran the needle through the bobbin case.

HOW the heck could I do something like that!?!?! Literally.... how is that even possible, and what could I have done to do that!?

You can see it up at the top.

Yrs ago I recieved a singer for graduation from HS. I sewed so much I sheered a cam into. Don't Know how I did that either and that was a long time ago.

Oooooo, looks like it hit pretty hard. How COULD that have happened?!?

grayma 09-15-2011 05:44 PM

I have no idea how that could have happened. I hope it wasn't too costly to get repaired.

I had to replace 2 on my Singer futura. On my machine a little flat spring deal was not in properly and it allowed the bobbin case to move and even jump out of it's space. Since the repairman showed me the problem.....everything is wonderful.:)

Looks like a drop in bobbin case. If the case was not sitting correctly in the opening, the needle could strike it. For my machine, I have to have the needle at the top most position before the case will seat correctly. It will, however, go in even if the needle is not where it's supposed to be. Not saying this is what you did, but a possibility.

I agree, how did that happen.

DogHouseMom 09-15-2011 06:19 PM

Thinking ... the bobbin seized at one point but the needle didn't. I know that *shouldn't* happen (they usually - or are supposed to seize in unison!), but it did!

amazing that little nick can throw the whole works off.

I had to replace a bobbin on my Janome, don't know how it happened. Couldn't have been me! right?

Were you sewing some heavy duty stuff or just regular clothing/quilting?
It looks like it got a big yank but not sure how.
