If you hadn't told me I wouldn't have seen it either. Beautiful.

moreland 05-22-2010 01:25 PM

I think it is interesting that your "mistake" balanced the bottom of the quilt--looks like it was meant to be that way.

ann clare 05-22-2010 01:37 PM

Beautiful wall hanging. Had to look for the mistake.

katei 05-22-2010 01:46 PM

Never in a million years would have noticed it. Had to look very hard to find it. I think you should just say it's the rebel in you  Lovely block.

Carol W 05-22-2010 02:39 PM

I really like it that way. :)

Babs194068 05-23-2010 03:03 AM

Awesome job. If and when I ever make this I hope I can say that is the only mistake I have made.

thequilteddove 05-23-2010 03:18 AM

You'll just have to name that quilt Lost At Sea :)

damaquilts 05-23-2010 04:53 AM

I had to look at each point and do the "dark, light" thing to find it. lol

CarrieAnne 05-23-2010 04:58 AM

I had to really search, too. Its very pretty!

Ditter43 05-23-2010 05:44 AM

That's so funny....remember this the next time you worry about some little flaw in a big quilt!! How often are they noticed?

My sister had a clock on her living room wall for about 2 years, she was not happy with it it kept getting yellow. She dusted it alot. I was viisting( she was wacthing me our parents were out of town) and said I would wash it .Guess want , it had paper on the points, boy was she surprasied, it was gold and shiny, I told her I workrd real hard on it. Told her later(next day) want happen.

Melinda in Tulsa 05-23-2010 07:43 AM

I would never have seen it if you hadn't pointed it out! It's beautiful just the way it is.

quiltincharlotte 05-23-2010 08:27 AM

Okay, I give up! I can't find it! It is really striking and I agree to leave it that way!

iltoaz 05-23-2010 08:37 AM

Once you mentioned it - I had to look for it. Just makes the quilt and original.

bstanbro 05-23-2010 08:37 AM

I had to look and look to see it.

stitchin 05-23-2010 09:01 AM

It is called a design opporutunity. Beautiful.

lab fairy 05-23-2010 09:07 AM

It is beautiful. Wish I could do that. Just tell everybody its your "humility" block and go with it.

theresse 05-23-2010 10:17 AM

It wasn't an easy find. I love it and the colors. Theresse

amorerm 05-23-2010 10:24 AM

Did you know the Amish made a mistake "on purpose" on their quilts? It was their signature. ALWAYS state to anyone that notices what may be considered to be a mistake as....Your signature for that quilt. Especially on this quilt. It's beautiful!!!

Melinda in Tulsa 05-23-2010 10:27 AM

LOL, I don't have to make mistakes on purpose! I have plenty !

Gerbie 05-23-2010 10:28 AM

Hard to see it when you are looking for it. Keep it hanging, no one will know unless you tell them. Beautiful job!

rootyr 05-23-2010 10:46 AM

Who would notice? It is lovely!!

Zoe 05-23-2010 11:12 AM

Your Mariner's Compass is beautiful! When I received my One Block Wonder back from the lady who hand quilted it , I promptly displayed it on my wall, waiting for all the oohs and aahs from friends. I did get lots of compliments, but one friend pointed out that one of the blades in the design was upside down. I laughed my head off, because I would never have noticed that. Then I remembered that "only God is perfect" and that this philosophy can be found in many religions. So there you have it! I am happy with my quilt too.

dixiechunk 05-23-2010 12:29 PM

Again, would not have noticed it if you hadn't pointed it out.

PurpleBecca 05-23-2010 12:33 PM

Very very funny - 2 years worth of 'obvious!'

Dotty 05-23-2010 01:23 PM

Dang if I can find it, but then I've only made 4 quilts in my life, and they are embroidered blocks. So just leave it alone, and enjoy.

Quilter's Rule #1: Never, Never point out your mistakes....no one will notice it if you don't show them. I had to really look at this to see what you were talking about.

Gramof6 05-23-2010 04:41 PM

SHHHHH! If you don't tell, bet nobody will notice. I had to look after you pointed it out. I think it's gorgeous! You did a great job & Thank You for sharing. It's def. a keeper.

dawn payne 05-23-2010 05:22 PM

Right to the point!HA WOW!

ogee73 05-23-2010 05:23 PM

When we lived in amish country, that would be called the humility piece or block, no matter how perfect one of their quilts seemed, they would intentionally make a mistake!

KarenBarnes 05-23-2010 06:29 PM

If it took you three years, who cares? It's beautiful!

omak 05-23-2010 07:11 PM

LOL ... nice to know the world is populated with other human beings <g> <wave> I LOVE when things like that happen! (it keeps me humble and diligent <g>) And, being able to laugh at oneself helps entertain others so well!

mistress4taz 05-23-2010 08:28 PM

I say that everything I work on is unique in that none are perfect so this flaw is my signature on each quilted project.

Rina 05-24-2010 01:35 AM

You shouldn't have mentioned it. I first look at the picture and then I read what you said and then I have to look for it. So, "it should be like that!"

GladGrams 05-24-2010 02:26 AM

For those of us who couldn't find it, I am thinking it is the green point to the left of the bottom pink point.

Am I right?

gramquilter2 05-24-2010 06:45 AM

I don't think most people notice the mistakes. I sent my last quilt to the quilter and she had it laying on her machine to start quilting and her 10 year old son found a block that was put on sideways!! Not me and not the quilter but her son. By the way he is also a quilter.

eleu16 05-24-2010 07:01 AM

I really had to look very hard to find the "flaw" but I think that makes the quilt charming and very personal :-D

Wow, I didn't see it at all until I read Sharon's post. After finding it, I think it looks like the star is on a frame or something like that. It looks like it's meant to be that way. It's a beautiful quilt!
