That is gorgeous! I've seen some beautiful quilts on here with feathers in the log cabin area. Then a small stipple in the middle?

Quilt4u 02-19-2010 04:30 PM

Sorry I can't help. But it sure is beautiful.

Gorgeous!!! I used flannel on the back of a doggie themed quilt once and I don't feel it made any difference.

that is beautiful, can't help with your quistion. sorry

It's beautiful! Love the applique with it. If you stipple around the appliques, they should "pop" out. Feathers are beautiful on a log cabin. You could go to Google Images and search for log cabin pics. You might get some quilting ideas there too.

Beautiful quilt. Many people to feathers in the light area and then stitch in ditch for the darker blocks. You could outline quilt around your flowers, or even a small stipple in the white area behind your applique.

Love your applique

Dragonfly Nana 02-19-2010 05:15 PM

Stunning quilt. How about a rambling vine with leaves to compliment the center?

I like the idea of the feathers in the log cabin. Your quilt is awesome. Beautiful.

That is a very attractive quilt. The applique center just adds so much to it.

ditto to mamaw! I believe echo quilting around the applique would look great with a horizontal wave quilting over the logs, but I would look at photos for inspiration and ideas first if you're not sure now. It's downright gorgeous and love the floral backing!

Are you going to do it yourself on your home machine, or send it out to a longarm quilter? Feathers would look very nice. Yes, look at other log cabin quilts to see how quilting is done, see what you like or dislike and go from there.

I agree with Dragonfly Nana in that a rambling vine would be wonderful in the dark part of the log cabin.
