How would you quilt this?

I am at a loss as to how to quilt this...I am not a very good free motion quilter, try to straight line quilt, criss cross corner to corner? Help ..please.

It could look nice quilted around each section of squares. Then echo quilt around each food item. Super fun quilt. Love it. I hope you get lots of good suggestions.

I agree with Judith. SITD around the blocks, and echo the items. I'm partial to echoing, and think that would really make the food stand out.

you can do gentle curves with your walking foot and make the echoing around the food items. Then some kind of simple lines in the checkered areas.
|
If you want to do straight line stitching, I would SITD to stabilize it into squares. Since the quilt would be stabilized already you could stitch around the motifs rotating the quilt as needed to do an outline. Cute top!

I was thinking exactly what Judith suggested. When you echo the food, you’ll see the outlined food on the back, of course, which makes it doubly fun.

Check Pintress "walking foot quilting."

Adorable quilt! My first thought was that it looks vintage and I think a simple all over crosshatch would be wonderful!
Your quilt is just adorable! |
A perfect picnic quilt.

Maybe use invisible thread on top and do wavy lines with a walking foot?
