I made this top for my little sister to give to a girl that she works with who is pregnant with a little boy. I got the top done no problem didn't have to rip out one seam! YAY! Now I have had the top folded up for a little more than a week now, almost two weeks and have no idea how to quilt it. My sister was suposed to come give me input on how to quilt it. lol yeah right her input was "your the one that does this all the time do whatever you think will look good!" ok thats no help! anyways thats why I am here asking every one of you!

How should I quilt this? Not a big fan of SITD but I am really drawing a blank when it comes to what to do! anyways without further ado here is the quilt!

It looks like "crosshatch" to me.

I was thinking the same thing but would you carry it through the center strip with the words on it or would you do something else there?

I'd run the crosshatch everywhere except over the words...make them stand out, and then stitch a rectangle around each word with the same quilting thread to emphasize it even more. or, crosshatch on only the outer sections, stitch a rectangle around each word and do some meandering in the white section outside the words.

Exactly what I would do too....crosshatch. Afterall, it looks like the lines are there to follow. I would take lines through the white lettering so as to not add too much busyness to overall quilt. Very nice.

Cross hatch does sound nice. But I would frame the words. I wouldn't want to quilt through them. IMHO

Maybe echo quilt the words and crosshatch the rest. Love it and the colors :-D

Love your baby quilt! My first thought was crosshatch also but not over the letters. Maybe outline the letters so they stand out a little

am learning all the time thanks to you ladies-------I have a top done in squares too -------you say xhatch as I hand quilt would you merely stitch diag thro all corners AND if si won't corners be tough to sew thro?

any other suggestions plse?

I would use your blue cross hatching design and outline stitch there, then I would do the same for the lettering and then outline stitch around the letters also.

If you used W&N then you should be able to quilt atleast 10" apart.
