When I work with appliques, my regular ironing board always gets in the way, so my hubby made this 18" by 18" ironing board for me. I covered it with heat resistant insul-bright batting and covered it with a cute scrap piece of fabric. I just lay it on the corner of my craft table which is beside my sewing machine. Wow, it has made things so much easier. This is the first picture I've posted since the changes, so I hope you can see it.

Awesome looking fabric. What a great idea. I never thought about the Insul-Bright. Thanks for the great tip.

Last year when they came out with this little 12" square for pressing small jobs and they wanted lots of money for them. I came up with the idea similar to what Sharon Schambers did with the large pressing board. I made a small one 12". I love it for pressing seams when piecing.

Cool It is always nice when hubbies support our hobbies. ;)

I was using a 'dorm' ironing board that a DD had at college, those mini boards with the fold up legs. Well, I'm a steamer and the board was just pressed particle board, the steam warped it bad. I recycled the the fold up leg onto a scrap piece of wood, 1x12x24 and made my own portable ironing board. :)

I also found it to be so helpful and easy to have something small and close by. I actually found an small table size iron board at a yardsale and recovered it myself. Must say never thought to use the heat resistant material but it works for me. ;)
