Huge Finish-- Quilt By Givio
2 Attachment(s)
My friend and our board member Givio passed away Feb.1st of cancer. She left several unfinished quilts for her family that I promised to finish for her. This is the third one I've quilted, and what a pleasure it was to work on. She had collected 1296 unique 2.5" fabric squares to use in the quilt. The center, up to the first small border, has NO REPEATS. That took a lot of collecting and trading. (You may even see some of your fabrics in there!) Working on her quilts puts me in awe of what a fabulous quilter she was. This quilt is going to one of her sisters, but it sure is hard to let it go! Love, love, love it! I know her sister will too.

That quilt is stunning Sewbizgirl! You are such a great friend to be finishing these quilts for Givio. The use of color and the no repeats is just incredible. I love how you quilted it btw. Very effective but loose enough to make it look a bit fluffy, perfect choice. Givio’s sister will love it!

That is her love radiating in this one! You are a true friend indeed to finish these for her! I have no doubt that her family will not see just her, but also see how much she was loved in these treasures you finish. Heirlooms indeed!

Beautiful. Givio did a lot of planning to have the Irish chain effect in this quilt. You did a great job with the quilting.

You quilted it so beautifully. Thank you for caring and sharing your talents to her family that is grieving. |
Now that is a fabulous scrappy quilt…I like how Givio did the borders with the black accent. I know her family appreciates your finishing touches SBG. 🙏

Oh, Sewbiz, I was so hoping that you had also posted the pix of this fabulous beauty over here. I first seen it in the Birthday Swap and I'm just a lurker over there, but almost lost my eye teeth when I saw this beauty. You are a loving friend of the late artist to continue her work. May you be blessed by the family with your love.
Have a blessed day and may your work continue cherrybsixty |
Omg, SBG, this is gorgeous!!!!!!! Your quilting enhances it perfectly. What a friend you've been and continue to be for that dear Givio.

What a marvelous quilt and quilting. You are a dear friend to finish it for your friend's family.
|
This quilt is very lovely. How nice of you to finish this for the family. God bless Givio and may she rest in peace.
|
Beautiful. She would be so proud of you for finishing this stunning quilt for her family.

Thank you everyone. She knew I’d get them done. I’m working on the 4th one now and will show it when completed. It’s a beauty, too. There is a 5th one after that, and then I’ll be done.
one thing I learned by doing this is that I CAN quilt really big quilts and have them come out ok. Before I made nothing bigger than a twin, but every one that Trisha (Givio) did was huge. She’s got me thinking bigger now. Bless her heart. I miss her every day and actually dread getting done with her quilts. |
That's a beautiful tribute to your friend.
|
You are Givio's angel. great friend. Her sister will treasure it.
I know how difficult it is to put that many squares together without it warping and changing shapes - it is amazing. And you did a wonderful job in quilting and finishing it. |
So, so beautiful. What a generous gift. This is a gift of compassion and beauty. Thanks for sharing.
|
The quilt is wonderful, and so are you!
|
A gorgeous finish. Gorgeous colors.
