Hummingbird Lane applique finished

My DIL gave me the Hummingbird Lane applique kit for my birthday a few years ago and I finally got it finished. The applique was laser cut and fused to backing so all I had to do was cut away the pieces and put them in the correct places on a black backing that was then fused as whole to a Dream Big panel. Don't know why I kept putting it on the back burner but am so happy that I finally finished it. I was going to do more quilting in the petals of the background flower but just went with outlining and then echoing inside to define the petals; at some point I may decide to quilt more but right now going with the K I S S plan.

I think it is perfect, just the way it is. The hummingbird applique is stunning and really stands out against the subtle background, which was a very clever way to use this panel.

It is 42 x 42. I could have made bigger by adding a border and moving the applique out a bit more (have seen some done that way) but I am happy with the way it turned out.
