Husbands old shirts
4 Attachment(s)
My husband was just going to throw out the shirts because they had holes in the elbows.... Silly silly guy. Here is what I made so far and what I have left over... Oh, and if you look closely at the second one, you will see they are all shirt pockets that will be filled with matchbox cars and given to my nephew.

Silly silly man indeed! The pockets are going to make great garages from your nephew's cars. That star block is one of my favourites.
|
very nicely done
|
Great recycling.....love tube stars as well.

Silly men is exactly what I was thinking. They are wonderful. I love the idea of using the pockets and putting cars in them. What a great Christmas gift that would be for a child. One more day to Christmas. I don't think iI will get one whipped up in time.

Love this idea! Can't wait to hear how the little guy likes the quilt complete with cars!!
|
i love your stars....i've done a couple and really liked putting this pattern together.
|
Hubby had lots of quilts for you to recycle. All your quilts are fabulous. Love the idea of the pockets for cars. Will it be a wall quilt? Great organizing idea for a kids' room.
I really like the look of quilts made from shirts. When/if I ever get my stash down I'll shop thrift stores since DH doesn't wear many woven shirts. |

What a great idea! With charity quilts a small angel and maybe a soft heart would be nice. Thanks for the idea. Merry Christmas.
|
You are a very clever quilter! Way to re-purpose. Great job.
|
I like all three of them! The stars pattern is one I've always admired and I'm going to file away your idea for the pockets - they might make a great addition to an I Spy quilt.

Using the pockets for cars! What a great idea.

Clever idea and great job. Usually DH's shirts are thread-bare everywhere before he parts with them :) Merry Christmas!

|

This is wonderful. When my dad passed suddenly in 2011 my mom went on a cleaning spree throwing out or giving away everything as part of her grieving process!! I snagged a bunch of shirts of his, mainly because some still smelled like him and I didn't want to part with him yet. Eventually I washed everything and folded them and stored them in my linen closet. Now I know exactly what to do with those shirts. Thank you! (You wouldn't happen to have an estimate on how many shirts it took for you to do the star block?) Very nice work, thanks again.
