Hylian Shield Zelda Quilt DONE!!!!

Hi all!!!

It's finally done!!! For those that don't know, this is for my son who, while deployed in Afghanistan, called me (an infrequent occurrence!!) to tell me he wanted a "Hylian Shield" quilt. Naturally I raced to figure out how to accomplish this. With the help of this board, I came up with a pattern and how to applique it on. I've never done applique, but I'm pleased with the way it turned out. I had it quilted by a new person who did a good enough job, but it wasn't the quilting I had hoped for, AND she was a big higher priced than I'm used to. She was kind enough to get it done for me before Christmas so I shall not complain overmuch. lol. I'll just learn this lesson and know to stick with my regular longarmer. The binding is the same as the black border. The backing looks like flowers on here, but it's really like tree bark. Sliced tree trunk I guess. The game is in a forest setting so it was perfect and even though I had to pay full price (vs an 'ok' half off fabric I'd found) it was well worth the perfect fit.
