I just use the panel anyway I think would work. I was fortunate that the leaf panel was perfect for the 9.5 inch block used in the fall quilt. I have used panels meant for a child's cloth book and sashed them to the size I needed, I have used a panel in an attic window design and also used a panel to do a prayer quilt for a friend. I think if you go on my profile and click on treads started, you can see all the quilts I have done using a panel, as far back as last Oct. or Nov. Hope this helps.
