Wow! Your hearts are beautiful. What is the secret to such perfect satin stitching and what thread do you use for it?
Thanks, Kiwi! I set the stitch length at about 1/3 of the way between 0 and 1 on my machine, and set the stitch width to 3.0. I find if I stitch off the edge of the applique into the foundation fabric, that helps also. And if you need more stabilization so it doesn't pucker, try pressing the waxy side of freezer paper to the back side, then just tear off the paper when you're done. I didn't need to do that, but I did use a fusible web to adhere the applique to the background, then I loosened the top thread tension so the bobbin thread wouldn't show. The thread was actually serger thread. It's a bit thicker than regular thread. I like the sheen it gives.

I also love applique but I was totally impressed with your photography abilities, u really made your stitches so visible. Great Quiilt
