I have been working on my FMQ so the borders and sashing are done FMQ. I love how my Janome 14000 sewing/embroidery machine quilts, so I did the 4-patch blocks with a single run design and used SITD around my stars and block seams. The back is the dotted fabric.

I do hoop the quilt when I use motifs from the embroidery machine. I have a nice extended table on my Janome 14000 and I leave the bottom hoop on the machine adjusted to be a little loose. I pin a template on the block exactly as I want it sewn and then center my block and add my top hoop with magnetic clips. It is really simple and does not require a lot of "wrestling" with the hooping process.
