I've been going through my closets, and I just realized that I came by my quilting gene honestly.
My mother who passed away in June at age 98 made this quilt. Although it is machine pieced and quilted, it looks like she spent a lot of time on it My grandmother on my mother's side made this one. It was one of her fancy quilts, hand-pieced and hand-quilted There are 42 blocks, and each petal is gathered around the center My grandmother on my father's side made this one. It was an everyday quilt, there are stains on it, but I still love it |
So sorry you lost your Mother. Both quilts are beautiful. Thanks for sharing such treasures. Oh, I didn't wait long enough for the last picture. Another beautiful treasure.

Beautiful heirlooms.
All of them are so beautiful! What great heirloom treasures you have.
great collection of quilts left by your mom and grandmom's
true treasures :-D :-D love the purple wedding ring  |
Beautiful.
You have a lot of family treasures. Hold on to them. Sorry for your loss |
It's nice to have "hand-me-downs"! You should write the quilts' stories down so your children will have them. Include a picture so they know what quilt you are talking about.

You are so fortunate to have these wonderful treasures.
Wow!! There are many talented quilters in your family. Bet they are all glad someone is carrying the torch.
They are beautiful and such treasures.
Wow those are beautiful!
Quilting on both sides of the family, you had no chance. The quilts are all lovely and such treasures to have. I love the purple background in the double wedding ring.
The quilts are all beautiful. The second one is an amish dahlia, the pattern for it is on quilterscache.com. I wish I had the nerve to do a double wedding ring.
Those are beautiful!! Thank you for sharing!
OMG so beautiful, what treasures you have. My grandmother quilted and all I have left of her work is one small piece of crazy quilt she never finished. I just put binding around it and use it as a cover over an antique trunk. I wish I had more of her work. My mom also quilts and she is still going strong. In fact she just sent me a pile of tops to FMQ for her. She loves piecing but hates the quilting part.
What beautiful quilts, how lucky to find them in your Mom's things.
What a treasure you have!
My condolences on the passing of your mother. The quilts are beautiful. What treasures they are.
Those are beautiful. All three of them could easily go in the same room too! You should make one that has all those colors in it and turn the four of them into a collection! I would even go so far as to have a photo taken of them together and put their story on it.
I'm sorry for your losses but I'm sure they would be happy knowing you kept the quilty gene going. Those are some awesome treasures.
I don't know how I got going in quilting. I'm the only one in my family that quilts. I'm glad I did though. |
those are beautiful! and I must have the quilting gene in me somewhere too! my great grandma on my mom's side, my grandma on my dad's side and her mother, my mom, and finally me. It's so great to have those treasures and to have a quilt from each generation!
Those are all lovely.
I especially like the dark background on the double wedding ring one. That's the first one I've seen done like that. Gives it a different look. |
All are fabulous. Great treasures

Quilters on both sides of the family line.....you sure did get "the gene"! Those are wonderful treasures. Isn't it interesting how many women of *any* age love purples?!
My own quilting gene must have skipped about 5 generations because to the best of our knowledge, no one on either side back through grands (I'm 66) quilted, but a relative in the late 1700s did. We have one of her quilts, now in the Colonial Williamsburg Textile Museum, which they dated as being from 1780 or earlier. I taught my own mother how to quilt in the mid-1990s, Jan in VA |
I think you got the "right" genes from the gene pool! Awesome quilts.
Wow!! That last quilt is amazing!
Gorgeous!
You have beautiful treasures! :D:D:D
