I Can FINALLY Share Quilts for Twins

4 Attachment(s)
I made these Dr. Seuss quilts for twins back in July, but haven't been able to share until the parents finally received them this week. The twins were born early and the baby shower was canceled. The parents did not know the sex, and decorated the nursery in a Dr. Seuss theme. I ordered two panels and then designed each quilt around the panels. It wasn't easy as nothing on the panels was straight or square. (Don't know that I will ever do a panel again!) I had the quilting done at my favorite LQS. The parents who live out of town finally got them this weekend. I hear they were happy with them.

Those are great!!!! Can you make me one????

What is wonderful is mom and dad will probably read those books to them so they can curl up under their quilts and they are read the stories - what wonderful memories.

those are great quilts

Adorable quilts! The parents are sure to be delighted with these lovely quilts. Cure Panels are hard to come by in my neck of the woods.

Those are adorable! I hear you about wonky panels though. I have used two or three, and I have never had one that didn't take pulls and tugging to get it as square as possible (though never really square!). Luckily the quilting keeps them from going so caddywhompus after washing!

Great quilts and it sure doesn't show that the panels were out of square. What sex were the babies and hope they are getting along well?

These are so cute!!! but darn, I can't see the pic of the backs! The babies will love them for sure! I'm collecting fabric for borders and sashing on baby/kids quilts and wondered about the b/w alphabet fabric, the yellow/red dots, and the sashing on the Green Eggs + Ham quilt. Checked out the Dr. Seuss fabrics and don't see these. Do you remember where you found them? TIA!

Jingle 12-24-2014 08:47 PM

Pollytink, you wouldn't believe how many places I found these fabrics. Wish I could tell you exact names, but the black fabric, I found in my LQS. It was my sister's idea to use the black, and I'm amazed at how it just made everything pop! I don't know the name. Sorry!!! The yellow red was something I luckily spotted on a Shop Hop. The striped and polkadot sashing as well as some of the solid sashing on the Green Eggs and Ham quilt actually came from fat quarter sets I found for $5.99 at Tuesday Morning. I bought a set of orange, yellow, green, purple, blue, pink, and red. I ended up not using the purple or pink. I had to cut the panels apart to make each block and that's where the trouble started. Some were wider on one end than the other, some printed crookedly, some were wedge shaped. I really had to spend time with the sashings to get them to square up. Wish I could be of better help!

Grandma Mary the quilts are fabulous! Colors bright and uplifting. You've done much justice to Dr. Seuss and I applaud you! I love kids quilts that bring back storybook memories to the kids and their grandmas and grandpas. Wonderful! Angela
