I can't decide on a Spring Fling border
2 Attachment(s)
I am almost done piecing my Spring Fling quilt. The pattern was in the Feb 2012 Quilter's World magazine ;)
I have to admit that I changed the cornerstone blocks that were included. I didn't like the little eggs and I found a 3" chick online that I liked better so that's what I ended up making for the cornerstones... Anyhooo... I'm having a hard time picking my border fabric... option 1 with the bright purple, yellow and blue flowers or option 2 with the ladybugs? What do you guys think? |
I like the second one best. The first one seems to pull your eye to it instead of the main body of the quilt.
I'm sorry I don't like either border with tha lovely quilt. I would suggest something in a solid that will take your eye back to your blocks.

I think both those are to busy. I'd probably look for something plainer
it looks like everyone is against both of your options... do you have a 3rd somewhere you could pull out?? I would not want to distract from all the work you have done by a border that does not do it justice
I agree, these 2 choices don't do anything for your beautiful blocks!
Exactly what I was thinking!!!
I actually like both of my choices.
I do not think it detracts from my blocks note do I think they are too busy. I think they are happy and cheerful. I do not wish to use a boring fabric. I want to use something . I will decide on my own. |
I personally like the first option because it pops like the blocks do as far as color.
beautiful...
The first is certainly better than the second, but I'd like to see a larger print. Nothing wrong with the brights, it's the scale of the prints that bother me.
BTW, don't ask for opinions if you aren't going to listen respectfully. After all, they are just that - opinions and given by people who care enough to respond. Of course, you are going to make the final decision. |
I like the first one; the colors are a perfect compliment to the colors in the really cute blocks. Perhaps not a wide border, though.
I like the first better, but I think a larger scale print would be much better, or a PPed 'lawn', that is grass all around. If you are interested, PM me and I'll supply a pattern.
I like the second option, the one with the ladybugs!! Nice quilt!
I like QM's suggestion that you do grass for the border. Perhaps in many shades of greens. Give her a PM and at least see what the pattern looks like.
As much as I love ladybugs, I think # 1 is the best option. It is so colorful and goes better with your blocks. Love it!
i don't care for the first at all. the ladybugs is light and small print and doesn't take away from your beautiful quilt
I vote for a solid color to bring out the blocks which by the way are great. Thanks for sharing.
Second one by far (IMHO).
I would pick a solid border to go with the blocks. Just my opinion.
They are both great!!! Would love to see finished quilt!!!
