I feel better now knowing that I am not alone lol! I need to clean it though because I think it has become a storage room instead of a sewing room!

Okay here is my area. Just as a note, when someone tells you it may take up to an hour to load a quilt on your frame that does not include the 30 minutes or more it will take to get the stuff that is sitting on it off. My hand quilting frame no longer fits in my room and is currently stashed behind one of the sofas in one end of our living room. Only two of us live in 3100 sq.ft. and it is still not enough space.

I can't believe I'm doing this. I suffer from the "As Soon As I Finish (fill in the blank), I'll Work On The Sewing Room" syndrome".

nmb519 05-29-2010 04:58 PM

Come on, no one has a sewing room that neat. Mine isn't as bad as some but I've been trying to be more organized lately.

marsye 05-29-2010 05:00 PM

Ok now most of the pictures I have seen here looks like a tornado went thru the room and then came back in reverse and hit again!!!! Now I know you guys just messed them up on purpose right????

Well, here is a before pic of messy fabric and an after of neater fabric but still messy room. I'm in the middle of a house redo and the sewing room is kinda squashed compactly right now in a back room. I don't think this house will ever get finished. I'm tired of moving from room to room.

I love how honest you all are. Take the messiest picture and multiply by three rooms. I can not bring myself to take a picture I am too ashamed.

Here's mine. It's actually not so bad right now since I straightened up a couple of weeks ago.

sandpat 05-30-2010 06:08 AM

Nope, nope, nope...not gonna do it. Although my space isn't quite as bad as some I've seen here...only because I don't have quite as much stuff..   There has been some Wild weather going around lately huh?

eightylady 05-30-2010 06:10 AM

MamaBear, are those large bundles of yarn? What do you do with it. Thanks for sharing...such fun.

eightylady 05-30-2010 06:13 AM

CajunQuilter2...I cannot go past your pix without feeling envy at your view of all that green nature...I know, it's a sin to envy someone, or so I was taught  :?

 I am a little embarrased, but it looked worse several weeks ago! My room is pretty small so it doesn't take much to make a total mess of it! I have a quilt laid out to start quilting but, I had to order some thread!I am still trying to get all the fabric my hubby got yardsaleing a couple of weeks ago, put away!

Yes after my fabric addiction comes my yarn addiction. I live approx. 26 kms (20 mi) from the Bernat yarn factory and I go a few times a year and stockup when they have tent sales etc. Yarn that is usually priced for $4-$5 per ball they sell off at half price or sometimes less. (discontinued colours or lines, or colours that are little off spec, so I just have to make sure when I start a project I have enough to complete it). I knit and crochet afghans, baby blankets, touques (adult & infant), sweaters, etc. This is something I did before I starting quilting, my Mom and paternal grandmother always had knitted/crocheted projects on the go and I just am following in their footsteps.

I don't have a sewing room right now, since we moved,no listens to me,so I have taken over the whole house. I have 3 machines in the computer room, one machine in a cabinet set up in the living room. Fabric in my sons room and the master closet. I just bought 2 bookcases to organize my fabric in,told them I was putting them in the other bedroom. Now they are enclosing the garage for me.Its about time someone listened.

Kathy N 05-30-2010 08:42 AM

I'm getting ready to move into my basement for a sewing room. My son had turned it into an apartment years ago and it has sat empty since he passed away. We finally decided to take it over and create an entire sewing space for me!!! It is 24 x 24 with a 12 foot bar and kitchenette so all of your photos are pure inspiration for me!!!!

WOW what a serene place to work in. Massive natural lighting and restful scene outside the windows. I'm jealous.

needles3thread 05-30-2010 11:37 AM

I think next time I need fabric, I'll come to your house.
You probably would have just what I need!
Good for you Mae

sewbusy 05-30-2010 11:38 AM

Yes I know Marsye I need a helper to clean up after me but she would probably want to get paid and that would severly cut into my fabric/quilting budget....................so now I just think neat thoughts and sew. Guess the two quilts I completed, quilted and got bound in the last two weeks are good anyway. And of course the cozy I made for one is good too. My dh is great at picking up around the house which allows me to use my energy for sewing/quilting.

needles3thread 05-30-2010 11:39 AM

Love the idea that your husband got fabric at yard sales
for you.............I, too, search yard sales for fabric.

GrammaNan 05-30-2010 11:49 AM

Alright, you have all shamed be into cleaning up my sewing area. I am set up in an unfinished basement that I share with my son's leatherwork area, his wood lathe and a very messy dove named Caesar. My DH told me to tell you all thank you for inspiring me to clean up.

eightylady 05-30-2010 04:17 PM
