I love this little quilter. My mom and Grandmother for years visited Berea Kentucky in the fall, a chance for colorful trees and visit the many galleries.

after an Email to the owner of one gallery from the painter's signature recieved this today !

Yes ideed, my Father painted "Aunt Flora" around 1981 or so she was a favorite model of Dad's and my Mom's great aunt.

Beautiful piece. I'm glad that it's been a joy.

How lucky you are and what a talented family! Too bad you don't have the quilt she was working on to match!

How wonderful to have such a piece of art! I remember your posting of this a while ago. :) I am glad you found out for sure who the painter was and heard back from them.

Great addition to your picture! Print out the email and attach it to the back of the picture. It will add more value in the event some family member ever trys to sell it.

What a wonderful story -- no matter how small, we are all creating history in our quilts... family history, community history and even a national legacy.

The quilts remain; long after the housework is finished and our children & grandchildren are grown up.

thanks to you all for commenting ! yes, printing out the email and attaching the back today !
Now, she has a name.. and one I did not research for her.

looked into other names, maybe that is why nothing seemed to fit.. She had a name, a real person !!

Thanks!
Ell
