I broke down and decided to finally buy the "Mini Pinni" Grace frame with the Juki 98Q sewing machine. It came earlier this week, but I only got to set it up today. I am so excited to start practicing my quilting on it. I am going to try and make an outdoorsy quilt, so I am practicing my animals, and trees.

Congrats and Happy practicing ! looks like a lot of fun

COOL! You are going to have so much fun!
Congrads!! Hope you have lots of fun and make lots of quilts.
How very cool! I love the roll of batting on the floor- that's much easier than trying to measure. And it keeps a nice tension on it to prevent wrinkles and folds. Something I will tuck away for future use.
Congratulations! Your going to have so much fun! :D
  Yes, thats what I am...first, you actually have the space for it, and secondly that you got it!! And third...that you are already so darn good with it!!
Congratulations! Looks good already--love the bear and trees
Boy are you good.
Does it expand for a large quilt? |
Youpi! It looks like you are having fun with it already. I keep looking at quilting frames and drooling.
ps: I love the wallhanging on the wall behind the machine. What is the pattern? |

I wish I had a room in my house big enough for one of those but DH won't give up our bedroom which is the largest room in the house. Imagine that.
Oh wow you are really getting at it right away! Nice machine and set up!
WOW! if that is beginner you are already a PRO in my book!!! You MUST have done this before somewhere? yes???
Very jealous - would love to have the space along with the machine. Your work looks great already. Enjoy!!!!!
I'm with you, Sandpat. I'm jealous. I want one sooooo bad. My husband asked me where I would plan to put it if I had one. I told him we could just knock down the wall between my sewing room and another room....I mean, really, who needs a bathroom? Isn't that why God gave us big back yards? He (husband, not God) gave me his patient and polite smile and walked out of the room.

Thanks for all the responses. The quilt hanging behind my machine is a bargello quilt. This is the first time I have ever been on a machine like this for more than 5 minutes, but it is really easy to follow a pattern with the machine. I did start quilting a real quilt last weekend, but I am not done yet. I need a lot more practice.
For all of you who say you don't have room, I live in a one bedroom apartment. The frame I have can either be used at queen size (110") or lap size (60"). Since most of the quilts I make right now are lap size, I have it set up at the smaller size. Later when I move to a place with more space I will probably set it up in the queen size. I have found that the machine moves very easily, and I am getting the hang of it, but there are so many different things to remember to do with this new set-up that I didn't have to do before, that I usually forget at least one thing. Happy quilting. |
This is exactly what DH & the kids got me for Mother's Day!
The machine came in on Monday, the frame should be here tomorrow. :D :D Was it hard to set up? How does the stitch regulator work?? I can't wait to try it out!! What size needles are you using? Congrats on yours! :-) |
How fun, Catchergirl: I'm  with envy at your new quilting machine. It looks like you're already a whiz kid at making animals and trees. Good job. Thanks for sharing.
