After my disaster with This-n-That fabric I ordered 1800 replicas from Bonnie Blue, which by the way was ordered on Thursday and I recieved on Saturday. Wow that was fast. So I just thought I would show you the pretty fabric for you all to enjoy.

Me too and thank you. Saturday is my birthday so I asked mom (which she never knows what to get me) to buy me the Dear Jane book. So she did which I'll get on Saturday, so I figured start to buy the fabric then decide if I want to play with muslin (don't know anything about it) so right now just dreaming i guess.

Oooooh lovely fabrics. Dear Jane is fabulous have you seen the link to it here to drool over... Elle |
Just the web site if that is the one you are talking about. I would love to see a main thread for one here since I know a bunch of the ladies are making one, so they can post the problems they have had and there fixes pictures, and stuff. These fabrics are suppose to be replicas of the fabric in her quilt so we'll see when I get the book.

Nice choices!! I like the dreaming phase. :D Happy Birthday, too!!

I love your fabric... I can't wait to see what your going to make. HAPPY BIRTHDAY... Mine is the 26th.....
|
Thanks for the birthday wishes it's this Saturday. That is when I'll get the book and I think I'll look it over first then decide on the white fabric, but Im leaning towards the muslin WHY I DON"T KNOW. By the time I get this done i'll be 80 hahahahahahha I just figured take my time and do easier ones first and then grow with the project. So if it takes me 38 years so be it. hehehehehehehe
Thanks again for all the birthday wishes. You are all great. |
Happy brithday! Isn't it crazy how some companies get their stuff right out to you and others you wait and wait?
Bevanger, are you a virgo too? I seem to recall the change is around the 23rd. I'm Sept. 1st. |
Well, happy birthday to everyone who's coming up soon.
|
Those scare me but we'll see. I was thinking even if I did a block a day that would work. NOT since I'm not home long enough most days. hahahaa I just tried Henry's thing of 30 mins a day that hasn't worked either. Oh well, at least I thought about it.

I can tell you that the Jane Stickle is doable! You will not be 101 years of age when it gets done. I am not 101 yet(well, OK, knocking on the door maybe! ha ha)Your fabric will be lovely in the Jane!
(Not that advice was asked but gonna suggest anyway! :) ) What I did was to lay out 13 fabrics(I believe there are 13 blocks across) in a color arrangement that pleased me, next to each other. I made those 13 blocks, with out thinking of any other rows, blocks, or thinking: "SCREAM, I have 250 million more to do"!) Then I layed those out in the line as they would be in the quilt & chose 13 more fabrics that pleased me in the arrangement of Row B & the Row A made above. I did the entire quilt this way. I purchased fabric as I went & I used muslin. The beautiful CW Repos were not that readily available as what we have now. If you concentrate on ONE ROW at a time , rather than the whole quilt, it does not overpower you! After the first row, you kinda learn how to put together the small blocks . That is my daily advice & it is worth 21 cents. ha ha I KNOW you can do it!!!!! Riley |
Well, Reily THANK YOU that sounds good to me so your advice with interest these days blah, blah, blah is now worth $1.25 okay all joking aside on that one. Thank you and how is it to work with muslin plus do I need to buy all at once or can I just go as I go. If that makes any sense. I know with yarn that it's under dye lots I guess that is what I'm worried about.
|
Love your farics Renee!!!! Happy Birthday!!!
|
Thanks Melissa
|
Happy Birthday! Can't wait to see how your project comes out! Good people have b-days in Aug--namely me and you :!:
|
Renee, I suggest that you purchase at least 20 yards of muslin--a few more yards if you can? (Mistakes happen) Somewhere Brenda Papadakis suggests 20 yards.
I purchased a whole bolt of muslin at Hobby Lobby before I began mine. Usually the dye lots are very close but you know, if you are gonna spend the time & effort--then do it up right ---are my thoughts on my quilts. Look carefully at the muslin. There are all different kinds out there from some that have such a loose weave you could toss a bucket through them? You want good muslin! You DO want to wash the muslin!(I launder all my fabric because the dyes often bother me) Muslin does shrink. I really love muslin myself because I am a hand quilter. It quilts beautifully! Muslin works like any other fabric? I know some folks do not like it but it is more accurate for the time period, IMHO! Happy Birthday on Sat to you!!! Riley |
Oh I think we'll be waiting a very long time but Happy Birthday to you too.
|
Oh dear wash it all? The fabric I bought are fat 1/8's hahahaha I know about the salad spinner. hehehe Okay I guess if that is what I have to do I have to do it. I don't want to spend a billion hours on a project to have it fall apart. That would make me  Thanks for all your help Reily.
|
I don't wash the muslin all in one length, Hon.
I usually cut it in 3 to 5 yard lengths. It is too hard for me to try to handle (at my age, they try to tell me I am old, you know. ha ha) It also is easier to iron if you will remove it just ever so slightly damp from the dryer. If I am not going to use it for awhile, I do not iron it at all! I wait until the moment of use! (Just dry it all the way if you are going to fold it away, as you already know!) You are most welcome!!! R |
Thanks will do. If I have any other questions I'll hollar if it's okay.
|
Your fabrics are great-I can tell you are excited to get started on your new project. Happy Birthday
|
Anytime! If I know the answer, I will even respond. ha ha
Just joshing you---I am glad to help with anything I know, which isn't much! If I don't know, this board is loaded with wonderful stitchers & I see how quickly they respond to help. This is a fabulous group! Hopefully, there will be a thread start when all of you get going. SO much easier to keep up with. Usually whatever you want to know is something someone else is asking too. Happy to help if I can! R |
Isn't Bonnie Blue an awesome site? I could just cruise around there forever, making plans and dreaming! Glad to hear they have great service, too!
|
