I'm making a table runner for a girlfriend.

I'm thinking I'm going to make a pillow or something out of that center block because it doesn't match.

I think it looks good in the middle but the white I used for background I used on the middle and left block...

I feel like I should make another block out of the fabrics I used in the far left block and make the far right block the new center.

WDYT?

I like it like you showed in the pic....

allisonirons 09-15-2009 10:58 AM

can you see how the far right one has a different white back ground fabric? I feel like that doesn't go. But then the lazy part of my brain tells me that with quilting it's not going to matter..... help!

First of all, I love the blocks. The bright colors are great. I think all the colors match just fine. The only thing I can see that might not match is on my screen the block on the right appears to have a tone on tone white background. If you like the blue, change the right block to have a solid background. If the blue bothers you, move the tone on tone to the center and make a new green one for the left.

It's going to be pretty regardless of you decision.

What fantastic blocks--the colors are just beautiful!

I would have all of the whites the same on the blocks. Just my opinion.

Brazen 09-15-2009 11:07 AM

Those are BEAUTIFUL blocks!!!!!!! I would, however, probably make another block with the same white background fab... leaving that one orphan to make a pillow or trivot/ hot pad/ or something. :D

I absolutely LOVE that!!

allisonirons 09-15-2009 11:09 AM

okay ladies I think you're all right. I should just suck it up and make another block lol ... I can't wait til she gets it in the mail, I think she's going to love it :D

They look great! I would leave the blue and just do another with the all white background. And for the extra send it to me because I love your work

how about this?

I rearranged and I kinda like it.... hmmm
it kinda looks like it's supposed to go, like up in grade or something like that. I'm not sure of the right words. Like it fades from green to blue?
Or am I imagining that?

kd124 09-15-2009 12:08 PM

Love these blocks. I love the blue block with the greens as it brings out the blue in the others. If it was me, I would change the background on the one to the right. Whatever you decide I am sure it will be lovely.

I love the blocks, but I can see why you think the far right should be the one in the middle, but I do think the blue in the center brings out the blue from the other two blocks. They are amazing blocks though!

bebe 09-15-2009 12:36 PM

Put a border around it to match the others no one will know it is an afterthought. Great blocks!!!
Fix the mup and pass them on. :D :D :D

I'd change the blue one (take it out & use for pillow) & make another one that matches the two w/green. Just my thoughts. Gonna be beautiful.

My humble suggestion is to not be so "neat" with your colors. You could have a variety of whites and colors.

Love the blocks and think whatever you do with them will be perfect! Eager to see what you decide.

Chele 09-15-2009 02:14 PM

I love it as is! The blues and greens are so calming and I'm a sucker for that wonky star block. I love the fabrics you chose. It's going to be a neat runner!

joeyoz 09-15-2009 03:43 PM

I think they would all three look good in the table runner.

janRN 09-15-2009 06:23 PM

I really like all three blocks but when you look at them together the blue one reads as a "solid" while your other two are varigated. I'd make another block of the varigated type fabric and use the blue for a pillow or some other project. Your fabrics are beautiful and your work on your blocks is outstanding. Good luck with whatever you decide (I just had to add my 2 cents)

allisonirons 09-15-2009 07:59 PM

Thanks for your ideas... I think I will tackle this project tomorrow!

SulaBug 09-21-2009 09:05 AM

Some how I missed this thread!! :D
I love your three blocks & think you
could put them together anyway you
might like too. Have you made more
progress, yet? Please share, if you have.
:D :D :D :D :D

My suggestion, from personal experience, is, if you're not happy with it now, you won't be happy with it when you're done. How long does it take to make one additional block. I say, make the new block, and then you'll love it!!!
