Thank you all so very much for your kind comments. Because of all of these kind comments, combined with actually having really gone to my first quilt show (I had done a quick wander through a couple of them many years ago), I have decided to enter this quilt into a show before I give it to my brother.

Again, it has meant so much to me to share this finish with all of you since I don't have anyone IRL that really understands.

I have one on my chair that my Mother made for me entirely by hand sewing the blocks together and quilting by hand in the early 1970's. I sew by machine.

Sorry Kathy, I forgot to respond to this. I took the 2.5" square and simply basted it "as is" around the cardstock hexie and didn't worry about the the extra bits rather than having a perfect 0.25" seam allowance around all siz sides. Some sides have more than necessary but there is a minimum of 0.25" at the smallest point.

I like how you broke the rules as you put it. I am not too much of a fan of the tradition GFG

your quilt is beautiful the patience and talent for such handwork escapes me,,if only I could keep my hands busy doing that while watching tv instead of eating chocolate and junk...great job

Wow, that is stunning and making me think I need a hexi quilt. I like to have hand work to carry with me to while my kids figure out/ enjoy their hobby.
