I Love Tabbies
2 Attachment(s)
I think tabbies are great for babies. They love the feel of them and it is so good for fine motor skills. In the past, I have made several for gifts. I usually make them square but I had to try the elephant shape since that is my future grandson's nursery theme. I made one for my daughter's house and one for mine. I love the way they turned out and the minky feels wonderful too.

Great presents for bub. I made several for my granddaughter and she loves them.

Very nicely done.
I have never heard of them before. Very cute indeed!!

I make tabbie receiving blankets! They are a hit too with babies. I take 1 yard cotton, 1 yard flannel and sew right sides togeather sewing the ribbons around the edges, leave a small opening turn inside out, then I sew around the blanket to make a nice looking finish, they make really nice tabbie blankets... ! I will be using your idea, I love the elephants they are too cute... Thank you for the idea!

Really cute!
Adorable tabbies! Thanks for sharing.
Those are great. Do you have a good source for the ribbons? I want a variety of ribbons but I don't want to buy big rolls of all of them. Any ideas on how to build up a ribbon "stash" would be appreciated!

Sew love them. What a wonderful gift!
What a great idea. I had not seen tabbies before.
Thanks for the wonderful idea. I have made the squares with tabs but not a cute shape like your elephant. My niece is decorating her nursery with elephants also. (pink and grey). I love the minky!
Tip for you:You may already know this tip but just in case: I use a glue stick (washable) on the tips of the ribbon ends and press them to hold the loop ends together. Then I glue the ribbon tabs along the edge of the fabric to hold them in place for sewing. :) |
That is a cute idea.
What a cute idea, that elephant is adorable.
Very cute idea. Elephants are so "in" now.

And I love the elephant shape! |
Adorable. I made one for my grandson and had to give them a second for the time the first was in the wash. He would not go to sleep without it LOL The best of compliments.

More adorable elephants.... how special is that?
Great gift idea and so cute!
Those tabbies are the cutest things ever! What a special gift that the babies love.
Thanks for a great idea. Our first great granddaughter (joining 4 great grandsons) will be 4 months old at Christmas time so know she will enjoy a soft tabbie so much. Was going to make it square but may make it like a Chubby Chick to match the quilt I made her. Those elephants are really awsome.
These are very cute! I have been looking for an idea for baby gifts.
I've seen these before, but I love how you used an elephant instead of a square or circle. Nicely done.

No babies in our family for over 20 years so I've never heard of or seen a tabby. But I do have cats. Imagine my surprise when I opened this item and didn't see a nice tabby cat looking back!
Love it so cute
Nice elephant shape instead of the square.

It's been a couple yrs ago, but I bought a bag of ribbon pieces at Hobby Lobby, not very expensive. You can also put cereal bag inside so it makes crinkly noise when baby plays with it, saw this done somewhere online. Love the elephants, too cute!
I forgot to mention that I did stuff the elephant ears with old mylar balloons so it makes a crinkly sound. A cereal bag would be a great idea. |
Oh just adorable !
