I love what you have done so far, and I agree with the others, use the flag fabric for the back.

GGquilts, in my experience wallhangings are just like a traditional quilt, they have all the same components, except wallhangings can be embellished, painted or beaded (as you don't generally wash them), they also have a sleeve sewn on the back for easy hanging.
