The dark really makes the squares pop. If you prefer a subtler top, then use the light. It all depends on what you're looking for as a final design. Have fun!!

Black shows up the blocks better!

I like the black the best, it makes colors stand out more. I'm making a quilt that is way to busy to put blocks together and am using black for sashing and I do like it.
