I'd like some suggestions about quilting this, please...

MissSandra 05-29-2011 12:18 PM

a wide meander works well on the kaleidoscopes because it does not take away as much as a tighter pattern

If you want something more than an all over random meander stipple type of quilting ... I saw one done where the quilting kind of went around each of the kaleidos, so as to emphasize and help them pop up more. (clear as mud what I'm saying, right?)

I was going to say meander as to not have any quilting show. Then I saw hcarpaninis and the one above. I am amazed at them.

Something simple though.

i happen to have had the good fortune to have seen this quilt in person. it's stunning.

the photo doesn't do it justice. (i don't mind saying that because i took the picture. a professional photographer i am definitely not. )

Beautiful OBW - your layout is perfect. A wide meander is fine. I've also done FMQ leaves, flowers, wide swirls whatever seems to suit the mood of the quilt, if doing a meander is something you find boring. It doesn't really 'show' but I like to put things into a quilt that deliver on closer inspection. Fabbo photography by the way - was it taken by a professional?! 8-)

Stunning. Could you put up a pic of the main fabric before you cut it into this?

phatquilts2 05-31-2011 03:38 AM

Lovely colors and layout of your OBW. Meandering is the popular method in my area.
Thanks for the viewing.

Love, love the quilt top. I want to do a OBW myself. Have to add it to my list of things I want to do. LOL. I think the photography was awesome.....ROFL. And I have to agree, pictures anywhere on this board do not do justice. Wonder why? Even sales are nicer whren they get to my house. ♥♥

Thank you again for the suggestions on quilting this. I will do the quilting similar to hcarpanini's. Like that a lot.
