I ordered it on Wednesday and it arrived on Friday! I was so excited that it got here the day I got back from Washington. I immediately started to set it up so that I could get a quilt loaded for working on this weekend.
To my disappointment it is missing parts! The toothed wheels that the rails go into aren't there. I emailed the seller but I believe I need to call the manufacturer directly. |
What a bummer, I hate when that happens. You get soooo excited to use something that you have sent for then its broke or not all there. So disapointing.
Hope you get your parts real soon. |
How disappointing! Hope you get your parts soon!
|
Yes pam call the grace company 800 number. They will send it out quick! I got my parts replacemant and another shipment from them, the fourth rail in just a couple days of calling them. They are very nice about it too.
Did they send you the video? I had to ask for that too. |
It will be great when you get it all...lucky lady...patiece is a virtue :!:
|
oh how disappointing for you :( Hope you are up and running real soon.
|
There is nothing more disappointing than having a piece missing!! :(
Oh the bright side, when you get the extra parts, you are going to have so much fun working with your new toy. I hope everything gets to you soon. My fingers & toes are crossed for Good Luck!! :D |
Oh darn it! Don't you just hate it when that happens? I know how excited you are to get working with it. You're going to have a ball (between fits) LOL.
|
Looks like you got the same frame I have. Many, many pieces! I spent a few days finishing the wood on mine. I was amazed at how easy it was to put all those pieces together. The Grace company is wonderful about replacing any parts that are missing or damaged.
Your delivery was amazingly fast. I ordered mine through Jo Ann's and it took a long time for delivery and then UPS apparently didn't know where our zip code was located and sent my frame on a week-end detour to eastern part of California instead of north! And I didn't even get any frequent flier miles. Have fun with your assembly! |
Ooooooh, how disappointing that are missing parts and couldn't actually USE your new tool! :? Praying that you get what you need really soon!
|
First a high, then a low....how disappointing  I hope your parts arrive soon so you can play.....
|
I've called and of course, they are open Monday through Friday.
I know I could put all the rest of the frame together but I just don't want to if I can't finish it. I could decide to stain and seal it before I get the cogs though. Instead of doing that I've worked on a log cabin this weekend that I am almost done with. I have 13 more blocks to square up and then sew them all together. I should receive the border fabric any day and that one will be ready to quilt or tie. |
So sorry for you. It is disappointing to order something and not have all the parts. Hand in there. I can't wait to see a quilt on that frame. Keep us posted.
|
Please let us know how hard/difficult it was to put together. That's one of the 2 frames I've been looking at getting.
|
I don't have one but have heard it is hard to put together but worth it. All good things come with a price.
|
I've look at all the parts and compared it to the parts list. Everything is very clearly marked, all of each size bolt, nut, washer, etc. is in it's own individual baggie with a label. I've looked over the directions and it doesn't seem to be too hard. I've put lots of boxed furniture together and you just have to follow each step.
But... I'll see how it actually goes together. |
my frame is about 5 years old and I have never stained it. Its as good as the day it was put together. it sits in the family room so its really not where its damp, that might make a difference. Good luck
|
Which Model of Grace frame did you purchase? I just got an EZ3 and am in the process of gettting it tung oiled before using.
Hope you get your part soo. Try calling the company directly, I've heard they have excellent customer service. e |
I got the Z44. I called Grace yesterday morning and no questions asked they are sending the wheels.
I haven't decided to stain it or not. I think I do have some mahogany stain that is an all-in-one stain and sealer, I'd have to look in the garage. It would look nice in a dark stain. |
Do you know the difference in the EZ3 to EZ4? Does it handle the kingsize quilts as well? I think the EZ3 only goes up to queen. I was wondering if there was something else.
I like the look of natural wood so I am just going to use the natural tung oil to seal it. I like the thought of not having to baste but I am not sure if the layers will start to bunch as more to the quilting is completed. Do you plan to work from top to bottom or from the middle? |
I don't know about the EZ3 but I do know that the Z44 comes with the crib, twin, queen and king rails. I haven't decided if I will stain it or not. Might just depend if I get to it before the cog wheels get here.
I plan on just starting at the bottom. I read in the directions to mark your top and backing every 6 inches along the edges so that when you are working on it, and rolling it up, you know that you are keeping the same tension top and bottom. |
I'm glad you are getting the missing pieces. Can't wait to see your first quilt done on it!
|
i have a grace frame, the pro one...goes to king and i have it 80% set up, it's not hard, just tough to find the time with the kids, hockey season, husband....
sorry for your missing parts - that really stinks!! Show a picture when you are done setting it up... |
I have the grace Pro and decided (since I have the room) to set it up in kingsize - that way I won't have to worry about storing the other pieces and tearing it down and adding the extensions to it... A friend and I started about 8p, quit about 1030p and then the next day, I was able to finish it alone... I was only missing one part (a carriage bolt) and I keep forgetting to call them about it...
But I sure do love my set up and know you will too... |
i've been working on my pro frame since September!! Horrible and embarrassing - I can't wiat to get it done so I can actually use it!!
post a picture of your pro so we can all see it! |
