I'm sorry it was a pain to make, but the end result is wonderful. I'm sure your daughter will love it. Anyone can have one from Babies R Us but hers will be unique and gorgeous.

For Raedar and Oldmountiancrafts.....
Ok...When I made the bag I didn't realize I was supposed to baste the sides of the bag to the pockets. The directions have you cut 2 side pieces and 2 side pockets. I am sure I am an idiot, but since it never mentioned the side pieces again, I thought they were just pieces in my left over pile!! The directions never mention the side pieces again, just the pockets. So I attached the pockets to the sides and they were too small. So, I removed them and basted the side pockets to the side pieces. I also bought a 19 inch zipper...you need a 17 inch, which is not listed in the supply list. I just tucked the extra inside of the bag. The directions have you marking many lines on the body of the bag. I used masking tape, wrote the letter of the line on the tape and also put an arrow pointing towards the side of the tape that was the correct measurement. I just pulled the tape away as I stitched. I got less confused this way.. The handle is pretty thick and was a little difficult for me to sew it to the bag. I used a jean needle and that seemed to help. You guys may find this a very easy project...We all have our challenges. For some reason this was mine. If I can help any please let me know. I really am glad I finished it, and I loved the fabrics. Thanks again for all of your nice comments...Laura |

I actually had sewn the last seems together on the top of the bag, with the bag inside out and couldn't reach the zipper to open the bag......It was a little embarassing.... |

Wow Laura! You did a terrific job. And regarding your comment about using it for the rest of her life....the fabric is so sophisticated that daughter could use it herself as an overnight bag. She will use it forever I bet.
I just finished a diaper bag for the DD of some dear friends. I modified a messenger bag pattern. Added lots of pockets inside and out, and it took forever to finish. Now need to photograph it and give it away. |
