i spy rag quilt - finally done after almost 3 years!!!!
1 Attachment(s)
almost 3 years ago I participated in a flannel swap of 5" squares on this board. Finally got the rag quilt done. After I got it all laid out i looked and realized how appropriate it would be to give to my parents. My dad suffers from alzheimers and thank goodness he is still at home. But looking at it i realized how it could possibly help my dad by looking for all the different things in it. Now i want to make one for the alzheimer's walk in our area if i can get one done in time ( it won't take 3 years this time i promise) so i am going to be going though my flannel scraps! thanks for looking!

That is really pretty. You made some really good color choices.
That's a great quilt & also a great idea to use for the Ahlzheimer's walk! Please show us that one, too, OK?
love it! it looks like it would be so warm and comfy. Great job.
That is very pretty.
That looks so comfy and cozy. It is so pretty also.
That is a really neat idea.
That looks so comfy. I'm sure your dad will enjoy it. What a wonderful use for an I spy. Great idea to make one for the fundraiser. Thanks for sharing.

When I see the I Spy quilts I think kids- but you have a valid point about helping others with their memory- how thoughtful of you :)
That turned out great! Your next one should be easier.
What a good idea! Add that to the fact that the quilt is lovely and you have a winning combination.
this is really nice.... only 3 years? Congratulations, It's beautiful.
I really like this. Very colorful!
I like your rag quilt! I have made many of them, but have not used the same color squares on the back, as it seems you have. I like the look it gives with the dark fabric showing in every square. Kudos to you for making the alzheimers quilt for the walk!
It a very pretty quilt! So glad you finished it and shared it here. What a wonderful idea to make one for the Alzheimer's walk.

Another idea comes to mind along that line. A Memory Squares could be mase (kinda like the kid's game from a long time ago) with two identical squares scattered around so the child or the patient can find the two that are alike.
I love your quilt. One question. Is the back all black or do you have a third black square sandwiched between top NS back squares? |
I'm kinda new to this forum--and quilting it is pretty. Can someone explin to me what it means--I spy? I know the I spy books....
Really great!!!!!!!!!!!
that is really cute. Sorry it took u so long!
thank you all for the comments. I really needed a large space to lay it out so I didn't have matching colors next to each other so I waited until a day i could spend at my sisters in her sewing "loft" (her entire second floor is one big room with little nooks and crannies and it is almost entirely filled with sewing stuff!) I used just two layers of flannel -one for the front and one for the back. the back is solid black. i wanted something that would highlight the squares and with so many colors in it i thought black would be the best choice.

Very nice! It looks so cuddly!! :)
