I made an I Spy quilt for my mentally impaired adult son and had enough squares left over to make a donation quilt for Quilts for Kids. My son loves his, it has all his favorite things from pizza to bowling on it.
I remember how awful it was in the hospital when my son was on chemo, so I hope the donation quilt makes a bright spot in the day for some little boy who is sick. I spy is a good way to pass the time when stuck in the hospital, and from what I understand they often don't get enough boy quilts since quilters tend to like making "girly" things. I was collecting I spy fabrics for some time, but ended up buying some precut squares on ebay so I would finally have enough to get these done over my summer break. I pieced on my singer treadle and free motion quilted on my electric domestic machine. Thanks for looking. |
They are both so bright & cheerful, I am sure they will be well loved. They are beautiful, TFS.

Sew cute

I like the yellow sashing and blue cornerstones you used in those quilts.
Nice! |
These will definitely help someone's mind stay busy distracted from other stuff going on. :-)

Both are wonderful, and they have lots of things I like too.

What great choices of fabric-finished very nicely!

Gives me a great idea! Would be cool to add some textured squares in too, of other types of fabric?? You did a very nice job!! Thanks for sharing!

great quilt and these quilts work great for boys and girls for donation.

Love the brightness of the fabrics and you did a great job in putting it all together. Someone else will also have a treasure; kudos to you for making an extra one. Thank you for sharing.

So bright, cheerful and full of wonderful things to spy, great job.

Beautiful.

They are so bright and wonderful. So fun.
When my son goes to the hospital, we take our quilts. The mattresses have to be washed and are made of material that is totally uncomfortable. So one of his quilts with a wool batting makes the bed so much more comfortable. Plus it immediately brightens the room. We were there this summer for a total of a week and a half. It was cold in the room. So I had quilts for my husband and I too. I actually had two on at night. We stay 24-7. We had nurses coming in just to see the quilts. |
Thanks for all the kind responses!

Sew cool! I have been collecting these fabrics for so long I think my grandsons have out grown them. So charity quilts are a good idea.
