So... I was at my grandmother's looking for some old slides with her and I came across this. It was one of my earliest attempts at a quilt.... Seams are terrible, design sucks.... I was maybe 6 or 8....

I kinda want to finish it.... but I don't know what to do. Any ideas?

I would use it as a center and build a bedsize quilt around it. How neat to have this personal treasure.

If it were my first attempt, I would make it the center piece of a larger quilt, surrounding it with quilting from where I am right now, sort of a "this is where I was and this is where I am now" kinda piece. In the newer quilting, you could show off the neater seams and better designs while still paying homage to where you were, your roots. :D

What a wonderful find.
Build a memory quilt. Find other fabrics which mean something, print some early childhood photos onto fabric, and it's done. Wish my family had kept my early attempts at sewing. I think it's gorgeous.

Definately, a then and now type design.

Memory quilt sounds good to me

Hmmm... I'd like to do a memory quilt but I don't really have any meaningful fabrics.... Might be able to do the picture part...

I think a lap size quilt

Love the memory quilt idea too.

I was almost thinking of cutting into it... maybe triangles to make better looking blocks and making a quilt outta it that way
