I am going to try this also, one of the gals in our group says this is so easy and fast when you learn it.

I started my first piece yesterday and ripped out about every other piece. I think I have the hang of it now...or pretty close. I love your pieces

They are all beautiful. Never started my fairy quilt godmother. Did you enlarge it some?

The only thing I did was I added the 3 borders, which was not part of the pattern. It took me about 1.5 days to do.

JANICE E. 01-23-2012 06:58 AM

WOW! I am impressed! I want to learn to do that in the near future!

kydeb 01-24-2012 05:48 AM

Those are great! I don't do PP often enough to remember how to do it so EVERY time I PP, I have to relearn!! LOL Love your quilt fairy. I still haven't done mine....maybe someday!

solstice3 01-24-2012 06:24 AM

great job...do you actually use paper? If so what kind?

feffertim 01-24-2012 08:42 AM

Lori S 01-24-2012 08:49 AM

I share your new addiction!! Nice work , hope to see more of this new addiction!

amizjeanne 01-24-2012 09:01 AM

I have just started paper piecing and like you, have a seam ripper best friend. You did good!!! These are very nice - it is fun but frustrating at times with great results if all goes as planned.

toi123 01-24-2012 09:04 AM

Wow, wow and wow! I haven't taken the step of faith to start paper piecing, but I love the projects that you did for a newbie! And I do have seam rippers, so I'm not sure what's stopping me. . . Nice finished pieces!

amizjeanne 01-24-2012 09:05 AM

Oops - forgot to mention, in case you do not already know about Carol Doak that you can find all kinds of free paper piecing patterns on her website. I have made several of her blocks and have more to do. One thing that is nice about her patterns is that she gives the dimensions of the fabric piece needed for each number in the block which made it so much easier for me. CarolDoak.com

Yes...I use the same paper that I use in my printer.

RkayD 01-24-2012 04:05 PM

Very well done! So....what was the biggest lesson you learned..other than how to rip? =)

Donna Yount 01-24-2012 08:31 PM

Would some one be so kind to PM me and tell me what or how to paper piece? I have no idea what it is. Thanks so much.

kathy6696 01-24-2012 08:33 PM

Very nice job!

theoldgraymare 01-24-2012 08:46 PM

Great job! I have been toying with the idea of learning to paper piece. Did you use any particular resources that you would recommend?

gzuslivz 01-24-2012 08:52 PM

Beautiful job! I have just recently discovered my love of paper piecing. I have to go slow, but I really enjoy it. And I don't even mind ripping the paper out. I even ordered 3 paper piecing books. God them all, now I need to get busy!

BSKTLOFR-QUILTER 01-24-2012 08:52 PM

Good for you. Looks like you've got the technique down pat. Thanks for sharing.

SheriR 01-24-2012 09:21 PM

Such pretty work. You should join the group 50 Fabulous Paper-Pieced Stars. My first star there was my first time ever doing PP and I admit it was a disaster. But I fixed it and moved on :) everyone is so helpful. I know there are other groups and PP swaps. I've found it's so fun to join in. Thank you for sharing.

I learned 2 very big lessons:
#1 - Pay attention to what fabric goes where.
#2 - Pay attention which way you lay the fabric over the space you are covering or when you fold it back it will not be covering the space that it should.

If you don't do #1 and #2 then you will get to know your seam ripper really well....

Pat75 01-25-2012 08:19 AM

Great job.Try some of Carol Doaks books she is a master of paper patterns. Her books will keep you quilting for a lifetime.

Joyce Ann 01-25-2012 12:26 PM

Great job!

pjnesler 01-25-2012 07:53 PM

Great work, Paper Piecing makes the impossible - POSSIBLE - you probably figured that out doing the eyes of your Quilting Godmother, as they say "Ask me how I know?" Keep up the great work!

marla 02-01-2012 11:50 AM

Love these and your kitty in your avatar. Do you raise Persians?

KathyKat 02-01-2012 12:31 PM

I have not attempted paper piecing yet but I love how precisely a design comes together with pp. Yours are wonderful!

Marla,
No I don't raise persians. I got her almost 17 years ago (had the choice between her and her sister but I chose Opal because she had two different colored eyes) and she is one spoiled rotten old lady.
