Today I stopped by Hobby Lobby and found this fabric. It is meant to be a child's soft book, but I am going to cut it apart and put sashing around each block, maybe even two sashings, as well as borders to create a sofa size quilt for my aunt who collects anything with mice on it. What do you think? Will it make for a cute quilt?
It was 50% off, so it only cost me $3.50!! |

Just a thought, not sure if it's correct.
I think since it's made for a book, all of the story is jumbled up so the pages flow right in the book. Maybe you've already thought about this, but I think you'll have to rearrange them to make the story flow the right way in the quilt. Right? Great find! |
I have seen others make quilts from the book panels and they are always really cute. Your panel sure looks like it would be cute. Bet your Aunt will love it!

I saw a similar book panel the other day....the thought did cross my mind...but it was a children's counting/alphabet book. I don't have any small people in my world, so I skipped it. Yours is fantastic though and if your Aunt is into mice, she will love it to bits.

I saw the same fabric at WalMart the other day, and I thought about making a quilt out of it, too. The only reason I passed on it is that I have so many other projects to finish. I think it will be great!

I really like the idea of turning these 'books' into quilts. Will certainly get more use that way...and this particular one is super cute! :thumbup:

Dang..........I was just there 2 days ago looking for a certain fabric......should have checked out the Christmas stuff. This fabric is sewwwwwww adorable.
