ID quilt pattern
 

Welcome ejeco! That’s a beautiful quilt made by a very skilled maker. I have never seen this particular pattern before but agree with Tartan that it is a variation of a feathered star. Do you know who the maker was? Have you had it appraised? Do you know what needs to be done to maintain its condition? A quilt this spectacular generates a lot of questions!

It was made by one of my great grandfathers relatives. A few years ago I read a letter he had written that mentioned receiving the quilt. I need to find it again as at that time I didn't pay attention to the date. It has never been appraise and I'm afraid it's never been cared for or stored properly but is just folded and stuffed in a drawer. Some of the red material has tears or splits in a few places. I would appreciate knowing if there is anything at this late date to prevent further deterioration.

I don't know the pattern, but I love the quilt

This is such a beautiful two color quilt! Welcome to the QB too! I would take it for an appraisal. Finding the letter would be a big help when it comes to the history of the quilt. Hopefully there is not a lot of damage to the quilt and a good restorationist can repair it. I am unfamiliar with the pattern but the beautiful stars and scalloped edges are a breath of fresh air. I wish you well with possible restoration. Again welcome to the QB and so glad you have jumped right in. Looking forward to hearing more on the history and the future of this beautful quilt.
