How do you think I did on the faces?
|

I just LOVE them! You're so clever in my book! I love the fabric--can you share what the name of it is? I can't wait to see the finished quilt! :-)

I looked and I have no selvages left, I bought it over a year ago. It was part of a line, I have two matching floral panels I intend to put in the quilt but the selvage is already cut off them too. :( The LQS where I bought it moved to a different city, but if I ever get over there I'll see if she has any more of it.
Oh wait, DUH, I save most of my selvages in a baggie. It's Floral Vignette by Paintbrush Studio Design # 900. I just searched and didn't find it except for a private seller who has 1.5 yard. I found a lady who made a dress for herself of it! How ironic is that? Of course, it's a little more modern and wearable than my dresses. ;) Apparently the selvage from the other fabric must have been too small to save, I was curious if I could get another panel, but don't know what it is called. I guess I better not mess these up.

I think you have a major winner here. Creative thinking in the best possible way. They are beautiful. Keep making up your own blocks and we'll cheer you on to stardom.

I have been working on this as a QAYG, but now I'm thinking I may just frame the "girls" and these two sections individually and hang them on the wall. I'm not quite sure how I would join them together as a quilt. I intend to read through the whole QAYG thread for ideas.
I bought a new sewing machine and love the stitches in it, so I just used them to outline the leaves and flowers. I tried shadowing the shapes of the dolls to quilt those panels but it looked like they were in a casket, and the multi-colored thread I used blended in for sections, so I ripped it back out. I'm thinking of just tying with little flower stitches, or learning how to use my embroidery function and embroidering leaves or something. What do you think of any of these ideas? Thank you for encouraging me.:) |
I Really Really Love what you are doing with the dolls on the fabric. You are so clever
|
Those are adorable.
|
Thank you Tucky, I'm doubting myself but I keep on working on them.

Very good work.

Can't wait to see this one finished.
|
Wow! You are so creative. Please let us see it when all is finished.

I haven't given up on these. I tried echo quilting around them and it didn't look good, so now I'm trying to figure out a way to quilt them with my embroidery, sewing machine. I think a rose design just in the black areas would look nice, but I bought a new machine a while ago and haven't used the embroidery function yet.
To get free financing I went for an out of state offer (sewingmachinesplus.com), so of course I have to pay for lessons if I want help learning to use it locally. I already basted batting and backing to the fronts, and I'm considering QAYG with the finished blocks but I don't know if I have enough space at the edges. So basically, I've just procrastinated doing anything! |
Such a creative idea!! Love them!!
|
I finally quilted it! I just embroidered each corner and made a wall hanging. It's in the washer now and if it comes out I'll share a picture. It only took almost two years, two sewing machines since then. lol!
|
I can't wait to see how it looks.
|
Lovely and creative. I like that they don't have faces, it leaves a bit of mystery and let's you imagine your own.
|
wow, what a creative idea. love it!
|
You have done a great job with the faces and like the others have said I think you have a great artistic sense and creativity.
|
That's really creative, it reminds me of bridesmaids in a wedding. Good job!
|
I posted some pictures.

Nicely done! Luann

Turned out great. Appreciate your following up and showing us the finished project.

They are just beautiful :)

Thanks, it took me long enough, right? Do you think it will work to embroider more flowers on it, like in the lower right corners? It's kind of saggy in spots. The Warm and Natural said it was fine up to 8" but I was actually hoping it would crinkle more. I pre-washed everything except for the batting so it didn't.
