since joining this site this morning -- i have received a few replies and interest on items for recycling

all though this really is not quilt related -- rather than reply to all -- i thought i could peak some interest to those of you who are interested in making old new again and useful -- although i do use one in my sewing room to hold my threads, scissors, bobbins etc -- love it when i walk into my room and the light has captured the glass and makes the pretty prisms on the walls

one was even used at a wedding to hold the guest cards and money envelopes -- it is the pic using the frosted white dishware

wow interesting...how do you glue those together???

They are beautiful... but how DO you attach them???

Wow those are pretty. I wouldn't be able to use them for sewing, as I know I would knock them over and break them.

several of you have the question of gluing -- the glassware has to be perfectly level both horizonally and vertically before stacking -- this requires grind the pieces to fit -- once that is completed the glue of choice is E6000

They are all very pretty. Very good recycling. On the red one, the white dish on top makes it look like a lace doily.

Great ideas - I am going to do the clear/white for wedding cards at my son's wedding. Thanks for sharing.

Those are beautiful, around here they make them as yard art, but they actually screw the glass together. They are really pretty when the sun is shining through them.

Those are amazingly beautiful ways to reuse old glass! My favorite is the last one - it takes my breath away. They are way to beautiful to use as bird baths! You have a wonderful eye for design!

Also... I want to add a little bit of information about safety and E6000 glue. It is a wonder glue and it is terrific at holding together things that no other glues can. I really love that product. You sure know how to use it to great effect!
A word of caution though: I hope you are ULTRA cautious about ventilation and absorption whenever you use this glue. I know a jewelry artist who used it a lot and thought she was being careful enough, but developed cancer from using it. She is thankfully okay now, and even still uses it, but with very safety precaution in place. It isn't merely breathing in the vapors, but also being absorbed through your skin. Don't even eat your lunch while you are working. Hope you don't mind me writing this to you, and you probably know all this, but I just want to make sure.

I saw some of these recently in a flower bed at a quaint little restaurant. They had colored glass ones similar to the blues and some using tea cups/saucers, etc. They really were cute scattered out in the flower beds. It was at a restaurant next door to antique store.

Oh how cool. Most of us do more than quilt. Thanks for the idea
