I get excited when I get a quilt 95% done. And want to post a picture of what I have done. This will be my quilt that I'm going to hand quilt. The pattern is called Shining Brighter from A book by Alex Anderson-called Simply stars Quilts that Sparkle. I ran out of the bright blue fabric, so I had to change the center sq, of the starto a darker blue print. I ran out of another color, so hopeing you can see the difference. Its of the lt background fabricThe quilt with out a border .This the block with the drk center This is the block with the blue sq center

I think the darker center for the star is a good thing.

Oh how pretty! Good job there and I love the bright blue.

Here is a picture of the original block I was going to do. But it just didn't stand out for me. As for the messed up story. This quilt was going to be on point. I drew some sq's on a piece of graph paper, to what I wanted to do. Some how my mind and my drawing just wasn't working together

I liked that block so I drew it into QuiltPro nad played around with it a bit. I also concluded that it would be better on point. I think it is interesting that you saw it that way too.

It's stunning!

kiffie2413 03-29-2016 05:08 PM

I like it, and I like your "happy accidental" changes!
Sometimes my brain doesn't compute what I meant to make. I figure creativity can come accidentally as well...right??!!
Regards,
Kif

Very nice quilt. I, too, like the darker centers in the stars. You do such beautiful work.

A stunning quilt with a story.

Isewman, your quilt is bright and refreshing; with patchwork we're allowed to deviate from the main colourway when we run out of fabric; so long as it blends in well, as your's does. It's one of those mishaps we should not point out and can sometimes prove to be a bonus, especially if we're able to slip in a few random alternatives.

Beautiful quilt. It is your artistic canvas and unusual additions add to the sparkle of the whole. Sometimes, changes we need to make because we run out of a specific fabric, become the sparkle factor. I think this happened in this case. Your hand quilting will add that WOW factor.

Another gorgeous quilt top! I have learned to love the unique tops that I make with fabric substitutions.

Yooper32 03-31-2016 05:17 AM

As for me, I like the dark center and it can be your very own special star.

sewmuch 03-31-2016 06:42 AM

Beautiful quilt, love the colors.

Billy'swife 03-31-2016 10:20 AM

Very, very pretty!

MargeD 03-31-2016 11:34 AM

If any one would question the star with a darker square in the middle, I would tell them that you used your "Artistic License" to do something different. I think it's a beautiful quilt.

barny 03-31-2016 12:09 PM

I agree with all of the above. It is what you wanted to do. It is a gorgeous quilt.

ccthomas 03-31-2016 04:54 PM

I like it. Some times our mistakes turn out better than we feared.

K-Roll 04-01-2016 12:33 AM

It's beautiful. Love the precision on the points. I like the dark blue as well, actually, all the colors used.

(Just made my first 8-pointed star and the result was, I will have to practice points a lot more.)
