With my sister's plastic pipe frame. I WANT ONE! I WANT ONE!!!!!! This is great! So much more area than my little hoop. Oh plastic pipe frame, where have you been all my life???
|
we sell those where i work
|
I have a smaller one that I can use on the couch. It's about 16"-18" square. It's okay, and I do like being able to adjust the tension in my piece, but it's difficult to quilt with as I would prefer to "prop" it on something so both hands are more free to work with.
These floor models can be found at my local Joann's, for around $169, I think. I though that was just a whole lot to pay for some PVC pipes, but that's just me..... If you really like it, then perhaps you need to spread the word --- maybe Santa can bring you one especially from the North Pole for Christmas??? |
I don't think I can wait that long. Sis says that Hobby Lobby has them, and every other week they have 40% coupons. Will be telling hubby to get less groceries this week so I can have $$ for my new toy.

the Q Snap frames are great. I agree.

Guess I'm the odd "man" out here. I had the floor frame and found it very hard on my back. I also didn't have a spot where I could leave it set up for any length of time. Last year I gave it to a lady at guild who could really use extras in her life. I had tried to sell it, but no one was even interested in my area at $25.... and it was taking up room under the bed! I do use the square and the rectangle lap size Q snaps though & really enjoy them. Enjoy your new toy!

i got a frame like that one i got mine at walmart for about $60.00 and i love it
|
I got mine at joann.com I waited until they had 50% off coupons so I paid about $50. it is light weight and easy to put the quilt in yourself. when I don't want it sitting out i pull the legs off and leave the quilt in the frame and it fix nicely behind a door or in a closet.
|
I hope that your new love comes to live with you very soon!!! :D :D :D
|
I really like mine too. I'm pretty sure I got mine on sale at Hobby Lobby. I mostly use mine when I'm tying a quilt. I haven't tried to use it for hand quilting yet. It's very versatile. My grandson loves to throw an old quilt over it and make a fort :D !
|
I have an 11" one and it's great for mini quilts and doll quilts.
|
Oh I'm drooling over it myself! Congrats to your sister...maybe if you drop a few hints, Santa might bring you one, you never know!

I got mine at JoAnn's half price. Love it.

I got mine at a flea market years ago when they first came out. Think I paid $55 for it. Also got the smaller ones. i did my first hand quilting on it and loved it for its size and convenience. I now have a full frame for my sewing machine and don't do hand quilting anymore. Too slow for me and arthritis is creeping in. So many quilters have gone to machine work that I can't sell mine at any price.

I got one about 3months ago and i love, love it
|
Why don't you just buy the PVC and make your own???
|
This is great. I am glad that you are enjoying it. My sister at church gave me one that she bought in a thrift shop for...$3.00, that's right three whole dollars. It was brand new in the box. I have not used it yet becasue I usually quilts by machine, but I have been challenged to start hand quilting by a 90 year old quilter.

You might check Joanns online. They have a sale going on, plus coupons available (if you need one, let me know and I'll forward my e-mail from them to you).

I have one of those PVC pipe frames. Bought it at Hobby Lobby many years ago for 50 dollars. I love it. I'm not real handy when it comes to holding a hoop or lap frame. I'm actually very clumbsy. Just can't figure it out. That quilt on your frame is great.
|
I have one of the small ones but I think'I'd like one like that too. I had a big quilt frame that was a chore to move the quilt it. The material was pinned to boards that turned and it worked like a charm but it took up lots of space and you couldn't take it down like that one and store if you are needing the room. I miss Hobby Lobby. There aren't any around me just Michaels and they don't have fabric.

Here...
http://www.pvcworkshop.com/freePVCplans2.htm About half way down the page on left side you can download a pdf with directions to make your own and it'll cost you 25$ MAX! I know I made one myself. |
Thanks for that fabulous website! I think I'll make my own quilt rack!
Regards, MaryAnna |
I bought one at a yard sale last year for 10.00
Haven't used it yet. Think maybe I will try it. |
Oh cool. I bet that would be handy for tieing quilts too
|
Got mine on E-bay for $45.00 and I love it. I went to the hardware store and got some scraps of PVC and put an extra 5" piece with a cap on the back which tilts it foreward. Makes it so much easier to use. I live in an apartment and didn't have room for anything larger. It is perfect. Have a king size quilt on my right now and it is working great.
