Your quilt is awesome! It looks so cuddly and soft. And with the colors you chose, it will go with almost any decor.

Your quilt is beautiful - I love the colors and it does have a bit of modern about it which is quite lovely.

shirleyd 04-15-2014 06:47 PM

I love your quilt! The colors are so pretty with the white sashing. And the puffiness is perfect for this pattern. Great job!

lindaschipper 04-16-2014 04:12 AM

Beautiful quilt...wouldn't mind making one like it. Thanks for posting a picture!

Moonglow 04-16-2014 04:20 AM

Nice work.

ladydukes 04-16-2014 04:57 AM

Nice job!!! When I took my daughters DWR quilt to her for a wedding present, I put it in one of those vacuum seal bags that you suck the air out with a vacuum cleaner so that it wouldn't take up much room. Worked great!

Ms Grace 04-16-2014 05:14 AM

Just beautiful!

mjhaess 04-16-2014 05:42 AM

There was a recipe for stabilizing colors on the board. Check the thread: "recipe to keep colors from running" from Zozee. It works quite well.

Thank you so much! I will definitely check it out!

I finished this one a few minutes ago. Still have to make a label but my (identical twin) sister commissioned me to make a quilt for a camp in NC (The Anchorage) which is going to have a Ladies' Retreat this fall. This will be a door prize, so one of the ladies who attends will win it.

I asked her for pics of what she wanted. She and the lady in charge of the retreat decided on this pattern. I found the fabrics as best as I could from my stash to match the picture and came up with this.

I posted the top a while ago, but just finished the quilting today. This seems the quintessential of all "traditional" quilts, as it is only 5" squares on point with 1.5" sashing and cornerstones, but amazingly enough with enough white in there it has a bit of a modern look. So I straight line quilted it. It has a slightly puffy look which I like for this quilt.

I hope she is pleased.

I would like to wash it once I'm in the states (we head back in early May for a graduation from college - DD#1, and wedding, DS#2), but I want to use that stuff that stabilizes the color which I can get there. This one will travel with me in my carry on.

This quilt is gorgeous! Wish I were going to that retreat for a chance to win it. Great work!

OOPS, I've been a lurker but had to comment on this quilt. It is gorgeous! Wish I were going to that retreat for a chanc to win it. Great work!

You are going to make the winner very happy. This is one very lovely quilt. Love the extra loft in it too.

Such a beautiful quilt! What is the name of the pattern? We have a new baby due in the family in October, and I would love to make this for the new arrival.

The original picture was from a McCalls scrap quilts book, but honestly...pattern? It is 5" square with 1.5" sashing including cornerstones on point. The rest is up to you. I'd say that is almost as much public domain as possible. Maybe the only thing less so would be just plain putting one block next to the other one.

I had so many squares in those colors leftover, that I made a twin size which is quite similar. But I have quilts stacked up all over these days. :)

The quilt is gorgeous! I love everything about it, you did a wonderful job making it! The pattern and colors you used are perfect.

gram2five 04-16-2014 11:31 AM

Thank you for responding to my question. I am VERY new to quilting, but will get out my graph paper and see if I can figure it out that way.

matraina 04-16-2014 11:44 AM

Absolutely love the quilt!

captlynhall 04-16-2014 07:04 PM

What kind of batting did you use to make the quilt so puffy? It is really a stunning quilt.

Perfect for a drawing. No matter what the winners taste is, it will be right on. Did I mention that it is beautiful:thumbup:
