My quilt has now doubled in size, still only about the size of a baby quilt, but working on it. :D (BTW, the quilt top is not crooked, I am standing at an angle) LOL

I can't wait to see it finished

mrsmayf2007 01-13-2010 09:45 AM

I hope for it to be a queen at least. Although I am not totally sure the dimensions of a queen though. This is my first quilt, so I do not know what size the finished product should be. This fabric is so expensive, I do not know how many more packs I will need, it is ten dollars a pack and I have two packs in what I have. And I lot of work too. I have a total of 16 pieces for each block and I have 16 blocks so far. Therefore, if my calculations are correct, 256 pieces and it is only like 60 inches wide thus far lol...... Any thoughts anyone???? Would it be worth it to keep putting fabric into it until it is a queen size. I have border fabric already like a 2 toned green to match the leaves as they each go light to darker green (can't tell in the pics).

Are you using charm packs or fat quarters? If so, you can probably find the fabric by the yard and it won't be so expensive. If you're making it a queen size to fit your bed -- measure across and down to see if you really want to make it that large. :D

I don't really know all the terms lol, But they come in a five pack together tied with a ribbon lol. It is five different colors of the same fabric. The whit back ground I intend to use for the binding/frame. I wonder where I could find it by the yard....hmmmm.

Sounds like fat quarters -- they should measure about 18"x22"?? Check to see if on the edge of one of them in the selvedge area, there could be some writing. This will tell you who made the fabric and what the line is called and sometimes the year. If we know that, we can google it and possibly find it online. If they are cut at the LQS, ask them if they have yardage....

another option is to keep going until you run out of fabric, add additional borders to increase size.
Can't wait to see it completed! Keep up the good work; love the fabrics!
