I recently posted that I'd ordered a scrap bag from fabric.com and several of you requested pictures. It was delivered today and I'm thrilled with what I received. There are eleven pieces total. Eight of them are 1 yard pieces, the other three are 1/2 yard. Of the eleven there are two pieces that I can't use. One is a cowboy print. No grandsons of an age that would appreciate it. The other is a red that's a stretch fabric. The description on the website and the invoice say 100% cotton so I'm going to call fabric.com about that one. I'll let you know what happens.

Surprisingly most of the fabrics match up with things I was collecting in my stash. And there was even a batik. Take a look at the pictures and let me know what you think.

Here are all 11 pieces

Look how well these match some leftover layer cake squares I've been wondering what to do with.

I needed just a bit more purple to finish this project.

And the pink is perfect for my pink & brown collection.

I have ordered the scrap bag from them 2 times and have been very pleased with what I received. It's like a Christmas package:)

$19.95 for a three pound bundle. I got 9-1/2 yards of fabric. That works out to be about $2.10 per yard. Even if I take out the two pieces I can't use that's still only $3.99 per yard. Problem is, now I want to order another one!

Beautiful fabric !! :-)

I ordered one of these Fabric.com "scrap boxes" too and was tickled pink with the selections. Everything else was good quality, usable fabric. There was a juvenile print included that I wondered what I would ever do with. It came in handy for a child's quilt headed for the Japan relief effort. You just never know!

I'll definitely order this item again!

Looks like you did really well. I am always tempted by scrap bags...bit like a mystery parcel. I think after seeing this I'll buy the next one I see.

I did a Moda scrap bag once and was happy with that one too. The thing with the Moda bag is they were all from the same line so even though they were just strips I was able to use them all in one project.

I used to order fabric from a company that made uniforms and had ;eftovers to sell. I think it was a 25 lb box for some money and shipping. I wished I had their ad again because I got a lot of good fabric from them wasn't stretch or junk all cotton. will have to look in my old quilting books.

Looks like you made out really nicely on that one!!!

Chele 03-26-2011 01:29 AM

It's like they knew what you could use! I didn't know Fabric.com had scrap bags. I may be in trouble! Have fun with your new stuff!

emerald46 03-26-2011 04:18 AM

Love grab bags, I have never been disappointed. Glad yours turned out well also.

quiltinghere 03-26-2011 05:03 AM

cool - perfect matches

Did you have to pay shipping too?

normasews 03-26-2011 05:52 AM

Fabric.com has wonderful scrap bags. I've ordered from them before and have always been pleased with what I've received. It can be a little addicting, just like everything else in our love for quilting and creating.

normasews 03-26-2011 05:53 AM

If you order $35 or more shipping is FREE. Not difficult to spend $35.

Mariposa 03-26-2011 06:09 AM

Great fabrics you got! Neat how they go with your various projects! :)

tdgiffin 03-26-2011 06:30 AM

$19.95 X 2 = $39.90 - that'll work!

hperttula123 03-26-2011 01:59 PM

Those are great fabrics!!!

dutchie 03-28-2011 02:25 PM

Rita, PIF stands for Pay It Forward. This is an item (or items) that you're list as being a freebie, perhaps with the recipient paying for or chipping in on the postage. It serves to help out those quilters who, for whatever reason, are struggling financially.

Thank you Sue for explaining that.
