Finally after 27 years of marriage, I get my own room! LOL. I found a used grace quilting frame, but haven't had a chance to try it out yet since my Janome decided it needed a vacation at the repair shop!! :(

Hope you enjoy, I sure am!

WOOHOO!! WTG!!
Was it your sons room or do you like submarines?

Love the quilt!!

LoriJ 08-28-2008 05:18 AM

It was my DD's room, she has moved downstairs to my DS's old room and he has moved out.... It's a chain reaction thing... lol

My DH was a submariner and the painting was done as a wedding present by a friend of his, Rupert Ravens. It's hanging in this room for now due to the fact we don't have a wall big enough in the living room. It was down in my DS's room and my DD wanted nothing to do with it. We'll be moving in the next few years and I'm hoping we'll have a house that has a wall big enough to do the painting justice.

very nice sewing room

tlrnhi 08-28-2008 05:50 AM

It's a great room!
Love that painting and yes, it needs a place to hang so all can see it. Very talented painter!

Nice room LoriJ! At first I thought the submarine was a quilt too - it's a very striking painting. Love your dolphin quilt too! :D

LoriJ 08-28-2008 12:15 PM

Thanks all, I am enjoying having the space to stretch out and not have to put things away constantly. Before this, I was in a corner of the living room.

Yes the painting is very striking, that's why it needs a wall big enough so that it doesn't overpower you. Rupert has always been one for large pieces. The house we are in now is much smaller than the one we had before, so it'll have to wait until we move again to find it's way out into the living room.

But, zyxquilts, you have given me an idea.... hmmm wonder if it'd be possible to recreate it in quilt form.... I'm still a beginner, so I'll have to think on that. :?

Everything is so nice--esp the dorm quilt. What's the pattern?

LoriJ 08-29-2008 04:36 AM

Thanks all! Just started another quilt for my mother and going to shop this weekend for material for one for my father. oh boy!! You're right, I hate going to work 'cause that means I can't be in my little room all day! But, gotta do that so I can buy more fabric, right? LOL Well, three day weekend coming up..... guess you know where you'll find me.

LoriJ 08-29-2008 04:38 AM

It's out of a book of log cabin quilts. Have to tell you it was a pain in the neck.... too many matching centers and hoping that you've trimmed the square right. I'll look tonight and send you the exact name.

Bevanger 08-29-2008 04:45 AM

Congrats on getting your own room. I like how you have it set up. VERY NICE and cozy

Marcia 08-29-2008 07:08 AM

Lori-Congrats on your very own room!! Aren't you just dying to try out your new quilting frame??? Is the dorm quilt going to be your first quilt on it?? Great space--enjoy many happy quilting hours there.

LoriJ 08-29-2008 08:17 AM

Yes, I can't wait to try it out. I have the quilting design picked out and am going this weekend to get fabric to make the leaders.... Now if I can just hear back from the repair shop as to how sick my machine is!...

Boston1954 08-29-2008 08:27 AM

Very nice. I bet you are thrilled to have so much room. Is that an extra sewing machine on the floor, or just the top to this one?

Anne

LoriJ 08-29-2008 08:31 AM

That's the top to my 27 yr old Kenmore that's currently sitting on the table. I have a Janome, but it's currently in the repair shop.

gcathie 08-29-2008 08:50 PM

Nice room ...I can tell it will be put to work soon.....rather the Kenmore or the Janome....you'll have to start sewing soon or go into the jitters.....
