That is possible. I have bought very cheap fabric, that is nice looking, to experiment on patterns. If it doesn't turn out it was a inexpensive experiment, if it does I got something that looks nice but inexpensive. Then I can make over in more expensive fabric that I really want to use. Try it and see.
