LOL - I would like to keep it myself - they saw this while it was in process and after I had 4 rows together they saw it and Mike got all teary eyes. So it will be theirs - thank you all for your kind comments - makes it all worth while.

Now I am trying to figure out how to put their names on one of the white squares - I should have done that before I put the quilt together. I tried using my monogram (spelling??) on machine but it was too small and I can not enlarge the font on it. But I am thinking on hand quilting each name in a square - will try that while I am quilting and I can always take it out. Again thank you everyone for your kindness :)

Both quilts are wonderful, but I love the 2nd scrappy one. I am sure I should recognize the pattern, but I don't could you tell me the pattern name and where I could purchase.

Thank you

Thank you

The pattern is the Double Irish Chain - I got the pattern from the book called "Big Book of Scrap Quilts" - It was not as easy as I thought it would be even though you work in strip sets. But now I want to make another one just for me, but not for awhile - this turned out to be 82 x 82 which is one of the biggest that I have done.

I love colors in both quilts but especially J & M's which you are about to quilt. Would love to see that one when you have it finished. Your hand quilting is beautiful.

karenm36 04-06-2011 07:29 AM

Beautiful! I especially like how you have what looks like a flower where all the blocks intersect on the Irish chain. It's scrappy (which I absolutely love) but still has a pattern to it because of the pink and yellow. Really cool. Gives me great ideas for my Irish chain. Don't when I'll be doing one...just that someday I know I will be doing one! ;-)

CarrieAnne 04-06-2011 07:32 AM

how beautiful!

Beautiful hand quilting. Your stitches are very nice. May I ask what kind of batting you used and how you liked it for handquilting?

I use the Mountain Mist for quilting - I think it is 80/20 - I got it from Joann's and I love it for quilting - I like the look of it where it is fluffy (spelling??) - it is so easy to hand quilt with - I do not like the warm and natural or whatever it is called. So far all the Mountain Mist and the Fairchild 80/20's are great for me.
