Yarn or Fabric 09-09-2010 05:00 AM

Those are fabulous but I have to say a mild cuss as I add jar placemats to my must do list lol.

I love them and totally can see them on my table as well! I wonder if I can find enough Xmas cookie fabrics to pull off a holiday jar one... oooh and xmas candies... I know I have enough halloween material that I could make them for that holiday but not for this year..... my time runneth short lol.

Bill,
Thanks that quilt was so much fun to make. There are 96 different food fabrics and the label is #97, it looks like a mason jar complete with label.

SaraSewing 09-09-2010 06:55 PM

Just a quick question. I can't tell from the photo. Is the napkin stitched all the way around, or is it hanging loose? Very nice project!

Babs194068 09-10-2010 02:34 AM

Saresewing, the napkign is sewing just along the one straight edge and then hangs loose over the self.

Sherri,
You do not have to paper piece jars. There are many free patterns on the internet. (Jar Quilt, Bug Jar Quilt)
I have seen placemats with just one jar in the middle and they were so cute.
Six and Twelve Inch finished jars:

The corners are sewn like a snowball block. Very easy. Take a look at these directions and You Go Girl!

Happy Quilting,

I have never seen anything like those! I love the fruit in the jars.

Grandmama Pat 09-10-2010 09:43 AM

Where did you get the materials for the fruit/veges in the jars? I've searched a few places and they either don't have the fabrics or they're sold out!

littleone 09-10-2010 09:59 AM

Great job, love the napkin, adds a nice touch. I have the blueberry fabric; have been collecting fruit and veggie fabric to do a jar quilt.

Lockeb 09-10-2010 01:32 PM

Hi everyone,

I've been collecting some of these fabrics for a long, long time....they are difficult to find now - I have been able to find a couple like the blueberries..but the prints are different on most of the fabrics.....

I did find a couple of others though a friend in California who hunted them down at her LQS.....she was wonderful to go shopping, take photos - let me shop - and then go back and pick up what I needed....

This pattern is a paper piecing pattern that I designed for a special size placemat based on what a customer asked me to do for her as a custom order....I have done other larger pieces, like a runner/wall hanging with regular piecing......I chose to design a paper piecing pattern for this project because of the smaller pieces...and not to mention - I LOVE PAPER PIECING!!!!

SO, now it's off to other projects....although I haven't finished my own set - but they ready to be quilted..so after I get that done (perhaps this weekend), I can start some other project...like everyone else, I have so many UFO's under go at the same time - I can pick up any of several projects during an evening or weekend and never get bored........

QUILTING IS SUCH A FANTASTIC THING!!!!!

What a wonderful project & so flexible to personalize or for specific seasons. Nice job. Got me to thinking how I can do something special for the grandchildren using this idea.

Lockeb 09-10-2010 07:02 PM

For Children, I think that these would look great with bug, or different candy prints....crayons even....

KarenS 09-10-2010 07:28 PM

These are adorable! I love your fabric choices!
