They are placemats. My sister-in-law bought two extra valances to go with her kitchen decor, shipped them off to me, and my task was to make placemats to match.

Seriously, I can help you with the quilty -- might have to get english teacher-y help from a few of my friends. I haven't used that stuff in 5 years, I think it might all be gone.
