Just have to add my 'it's beautiful' comment onto all the others. I like how you did the binding too with differnt colors. Those shades of blue are breathtaking! Great job!

dyer804 11-15-2010 04:41 PM

Very nice! I love blue and white as well as samplers. I really need to do one when I get a little more experience.

vannadine 11-15-2010 04:53 PM

I love that site. What a good idea to make a sampler. I am so new that they all seem a bit overwhelming to me. Yours is beautiful.

milikaa1 11-15-2010 05:04 PM

Did you hand piece the blocks? I went to Jinny Byer's shop in Great Falls, Va during Quilters Quest last week. It is amazingly beautiful. I also learned she was not there as she was at the airport ready to take a group on a tour of India and they had to bring along 900 cut squares! What fun. No machines for them!

cabbagepatchkid 11-15-2010 06:49 PM

That came out beautiful!!!!

I was going to ask you the same thing. I have one of her books on hand piecing, that I borrowed from the library. I like it so much that I'm going to get my own copy. Her quilts are amazing!

Very pretty.

Gail Maloney 11-16-2010 05:00 AM

All my quilts are sewn on machine,,,,,, some of these blocks were quite challenging but most were fairly simple,,,,,, I enjoy a challenge,,,,, and the great thing about samplers is that you only have to do the tuff blocks once,,,,, lol

Rina 11-16-2010 06:30 AM

Gail, this is very beautiful. Thanks for showing.

Just had to look at your quilt again after receiving your reply. It really is amazingly beautiful.Jinny Beyer decided on all the squares for the Quilter's Quest, so every square was ready for hand piecing. Today I took a class on machine piecing which I found challenging...Carol Doak's book. The teacher was calm, clear, and patient with all of us. So I came home with one section A completed and having learned a lot as she shared her mistakes to guard our work. It was a delightful class, but I do not think I am ready for a quilt the size of your success. Congratulations.

Jinny Beyer is in a class all her own. I fell in love with her fabric the first time I saw them. I especially love her border prints.
Interesting history behind how she got into this line of work.

Sewze 11-16-2010 08:03 PM
