Made from Julie's shirts her mother has save from, head start through high school. It also has bandannas, a pocket from her softball pants and a pair of tights worn for cheer leading.

Thanks.
I guess I should have explained about the making of this quilt...since I had don't that in a reply to another message, wasn't thinking that it would be helpful to put it here also. Anyway, I cut the t-shirt sleeves out, the neck ribbing and the shoulder seams off along with the bottom hem, then opened the shirt down each side. I ironed thees pieces to lightweight woven interfacing so I could cut neatly. I wanted each row of block to be the width of the bandannas that I used which were 16 in. and wanted to use sashing between the blocks but didn't want it to meet with one next too it. I could built up the 16 in width if needed by adding other t-shirt fabric, and increase or decrease the height by cutting different heights from the shirt. There was a bit of layout and calculation to get this to work. |
From one who does alot of t shirt quilts (for others) this one is really pretty. Love those Wisconsin colors!!

I thought I would have problems with working with the purple and gold, but found the right color of broadcloth for the sashing and lucked out with the purple homespun |

Thanks, Linda/MI I've had a request to make another t-shirt quilt, I think I may try using spray basting adhesive to attach the shirt to a base lightweight cotton, so I shouldn't get the stiffness as I did with the fusible interfacing. |
What a beautiful job you did!

That turned out fantastic

Julie's mother had save all her girl scout t-shirt also. She had so may sports shirts I didn't want to mix the two kinds. May use the girl scouts shirt to make another for her someday.

Barb, GREAT Job! and thanks for including your
directions. |
Wowee, great job. I'm sure she loves it and bet her friends do too.

That is really nice. I made one for DS but have not quilted it. I took his old baseball caps & appliqued the emblems on fabric to work into the squares. It is really neat. When I get my building finished I'll get it quilted as I have no room to lay out. Saving shirts now for youngest DS to make him one.
