Just Beachy quilt for my daughter
1 Attachment(s)
No comfort quilts in line just now so I made this throw quilt for my daughter's new beach theme for her living room. I was going to wait till it was finished but I'm so delighted with the flimsy, I just had to post it now. I have it pinned for quilting, so it should be finished in a few days if the body cooperates!
It's a modified rail fence pattern, no borders and will bind it in the sand color of the outer rails. |
Neat quilt top!

The quilt looks great. Sometimes simple is best and it really shows off your beachy fabrics.

Interesting design.

Love it! really showcases the fabrics!

Very beautiful. How clever to modify the rail fence pattern-turned out looking completely different. Thanks so much for sharing.
Love it! Perfectly be achy!
It always amazes me when a project is shown and I can't tell what pattern it is. And then it turns out to be such a simple pattern. It's amazing how color changes everything.
What fun. Sure that she will love it. BrendaK

This very easy pattern takes on a very complicated looking layout. Thank-you Linda for posting such a GREAT quilt...oh the possibilities! |
Very beachy. Love the "sand" around each block - a nice touch.
Love your version of the rail fence. Great job!
Great quilt! Love the beach theme and that sand fabric is perfect!
I have to share with a giggle, my sand fabric is actually a recycled sheet. The pattern on the sheet is of randomly placed large wavey leaves. I can't think of the name of it, but one sees it often in decorating and I think it is supposed to be good luck.
The color was perfect and I just knew when I cut it into the strips it would look like sand. It was indeed perfect in this quilt! |
What a clever idea, I'm sure it will be put to good use.
Love it!!! Looks like floating blocks.
Pretty, I like how the sand color rails let the others stand out. But, it is still a calm quilt. Very nice.
Really nice!
I got it! Acanthus leaves! LOL, my memory is slowwwwwww, but it kicks in now and then.
THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! I have been puzzling over a quilt to make for a very special friend (we've known eachother for 56 years) who just bought a house near the beach in SC. I wanted something pretty, but fairly straight forward - as i expect they will use it on the beach. Your idea is GREAT !!....and I hope you will be flattered when i say that i plan to steal it !!
What a fantastic idea for a beach quilt! Your daughter will love it.
I love this! I'm thinking I just might make one too!

Very pretty !

For anyone interested, for this quilt, the blocks finished at 8". I cut the center sections at 4.5" x 8.5" and the outer rails at 2.5" x 8.5".
If you do chain piecing, you can cut the outer rails as 2.5" by width of fabric and chain stitch the center blocks to the strips. There are 48 of the blocks in my quilt (6 x 8). |
cool idea love the quilt
I love simplicity more than having it "too busy". I think your quilt could be recreated with all kinds of "themes", such as "Sweets for the Sweet" with the various kinds of chocolate candy and cupcake fabric I have. :)
